Skubal top target for Dodgers and Orioles?

It’s not great at our positions of need. SP/RP it’s pretty good.

If, IF, Keith keeps progressing as he looks to be doing that will be a great early signing by Harris.
Also, another reason that I think Chris I is willing to spend as he had no need to pay Keith that early.

Maybe we can bring Verlander back next year on a reclamation type of contract.

Yep, the Orioles seem to be positioned well. How did they get there? By being terrible for a long time. The last ten years alone saw them either be close to .500 or well below .500 with 2023 as an aberration.

The Tigers need to start winning at some point and that costs $. At some point the Tigers need to stop planning for 3+ years out and plan for next year.

The Tigers have a solid manager who seems to get the most out of his not great roster. It is time to see if a great team can be assembled for 2025. Can this roughly .500 team take a step in 2025? Nit without Jack and Tarik. Keep them and add to the offense and this could be a well-built team for 2025.

Maeda is “only” getting $10 Million for 2025.

Because Holliday isn’t ‘just some prospect’.

We are talking about the best hitting prospect since Vladdy JR, and the best overall prospect since Wander Franco. When all is said and done, he will be better than both.

Imo, we are talking Acuna JR. With one exception…he plays SS.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m very much in the camp for keeping Skubal, but if Baltimore is dumb enough to offer us Holliday, and another All-Star type bat, plus other pieces…we would be absolutely stupid not to take it.

I don’t think they will offer it though.

Yea, Weasel pointed that out as well. So,10m comes off the books
Tigers have room to add plenty.

I’m surprised they didn’t bring this kid up months ago to replace Mateo.

Wow, Baltimore just pissed away a 6-0 lead against the Marlins.

They need bully help as much as they need a starter.

Tigers don’t need a 2d baseman of the future. They’ve already got one.

I bet Weas that we couldn’t take the Orioles entire farm system from them.

THIS!

Maybe if its Holliday plus. Other than that ----
Its really hard to predict success in the majors.
You may have to stare at this chart for awhile, but what it says to me is if you are not the top 1 or 2 prospect from your organization, or a top 5 prospect in all of baseball, the chances of you being a real star aren’t all that high. The article below says there’s a considerable chance of being a bust even with a top-10 prospect.

Good point. The Tigers have certainly had their share of No. 1 picks who didn’t work out or were disappointments.

So with the Orioles trading for Eflin, is Skubal staying put?

Not sure if I’m excited that Skubal is staying or if I wish we got a haul for him.

I don’t think this trade really has anything to do with Skubal. They didn’t give up much for Eflin, and Skubal brings a bunch of different things to the table.

I don’t think Baltimore would pay the price it would take to get Skubal though. The Tigers are doing it the right way by demanding a kings ransom…skubal is worth it.
