So…a day later…

Has everyone done their research on our new OC, and are you now on my side?

Super smart, knows every position on football field inside out, experience, bald, outside of organization, respected by good coaches (Stefanski), was going to be an assistant or OC in Atlanta, huge head, run game savant (like it or not the league is shifting back to this), no ego.

For the naysayers, I understand he’s not a sexy name. It’s surface level disappointing to most because it’s not McDaniel. What they got here was a dude who ran a pretty solid offense with minimal talent (23/24) who shares a lot of beliefs with how our coach wants his O to be. If they can get their OL back up and running again I’ll bet you we will all laud this hire in 12 months. There will be minimal adjustment period if any. There’s no learning new playbook BS. We have Dan freed up to be Dan and not spectacles and laminate Dan.

Keeping Shep and then hiring this guy is about as bad of a start to the off season as you could have. We have 3 years of evidence that the guy absolutely stinks.

Jim Harbaugh hired Mike McDaniel…. While he wasn’t the right “fit” for the Lions. That should tell everyone what they need to know. At the end of the day hopefully this offense doesn’t change much. It is still a top offense. I am more concerned about them keeping Shep.

Danny at the Bat

“We’re good”

“He isn’t a good fit”

There was no joy at Ford Field for the mighty Danny had struck out

Campbell has accomplished more than milk steaks has since hired this go around. He turned around the worst franchise in sports. Dafuq has Jim Coke bottles done in LA? It’s ok to be upset that they didn’t get the headline grabber but imo this is indeed a better fit. Also, two things can be true-yes their D sucks. No im not a Shep fan. I also don’t like the way our GM operates (last two years). But this hire on its own is the least of the offseason concerns.

Bro why do you think Holmes has been like that the last two years? And What do you think we should do at DC?

The only reason I can think of is Rod Wood unfortunately. I do not understand his we are good mentality at all. It sucks. Do you know why?

As for DC- someone with experience. I’d love to have Raheem Morris or someone like that…

Seems like all the comments are from naysayers, but such is life as a Lions fan in a Lions fan forum. Online. When we are preparing for our super bowl in April instead of the actual Super Bowl.

I agree that our leadership vibed with this guy and his schemes. He will be better here than he ever was in AZ. His way of doing things and our way over the past few years will be a Las Vegas wedding instead of a long courtship.

He’s never been a HC and he was an OC and Play Caller the most recent three years. He showed signs of year over year improvements and he emphasises the same principles as MCDC and Ben. Guys like that don’t grow on trees.

Man I wish I did. Very disappointed.. the fixes seem small, doable and obvious. Even the overuse of Hutchinson. And not having a DE2 or someone to spell him.

Not signing or trading for a swing so decker can take more time to heal. Not getting reinforcements at DB.

I think we could have easily had two rings by now. And now we’re back to retooling. Boggles my mind.

Idk how to feel about the DC position though. On one hand I get why she got the gig and I’m still intrigued by him but I also agree with you and everyone else about getting an established guy to just seal the cracks. Why are we experimenting!?

tbf it seems Dan overcame his temptations to go that route on offense this time by promoting a Haley or Montgomery. So hopefully the pressure is on for Shep and this year is make or break

Gotta give you credit for sticking your neck out there. People seem to be coming around now. Slowly but surely. I think they might need some distance from their hot takes.

I don’t want to wait 8 weeks for McDaniel to get everyone on same page then leave 9 games later. Petzing is a smart, respected coach and has the same vision as our HC. If it doesn’t work the whole thing is likely over.

Well Gibbs better stay healthy

goes back to who wanted to be in Detroit? team-aside, our weather alone is not desired , coaches have to want there career here, their family here, WHY? when they can be in sunny LA, or any other warm, sunny state, much closer to where they were , instead of being in Russia Jr in the city of Detroit? Michigan weather SUCKS, you got 2.5 months of good warm weather-before it starts creeping into fall and winter again-that factors in to a choice, MAYBE the OC we ended up with-wanted to be here and other’s…not so much-even with our players, that are always injured.. who knows?

who knows. we should give him a few games and then evaluate him.

What I’m looking for next is which assistants are getting axed or retained.

NICE.

Jared knows this move well. If the offense rocks, it’s in spite of Petzing. If it disappoints, it’s because of Petzing.

Gotcha.
