Excellent points. Alim + Tyleik taking monumental leaps from 2025 to 2026 is reasonable.
Hutch DPOY type season
If we got 8 sacks from Houston & 11 from AQM there is definitely hope for Moore as a rookie.
The 2 guys who really must step up though are:
Jack Campbell & Derrick Barnes
In pass coverage and getting after the QB.
I’m fine with our CB room
Reed, Rock, Roger, Rake and Whiteside for depth
Abney great pick should contribute
Maddox filling in at NB2 until Branch is back
Now, if we get ANYTHING from our backup DTs Levi, SGH, or Wingo our defense could be onto something here.
Wonnum is a fine edge setter, but we really need a DE4 with juice to emerge
And I don’t see one on the roster, hoping for Hassssin but I think he’s PSquad to start.
Safeties, we have enough bodies there to patch it together
But no elite play like we’ve seen recently for us
Gotta win up front now

Excellent post. I agree. I’m hoping a guy like Payton turner has his career season just like a few other journeymen we’ve had. I’m optimistic on the interior line. I’m hopeful several players step up. I admit I have much more hope for onwuzurike than I do wingo. Onwuzurike has shown he can produce. Wingo couldn’t even see the field the last couple years.

There is so much speculation with Kerby. Kerby seems like he thinks he’s okay while everyone else thinks his career might be over. DC seemed cryptic. Was there ever an official diagnosis?
Him and Brian Branch are two of the most depressing things for me about this team in all my old man years of watching the Lions.
Kerby and BB are like a dream come true now both might be done.

Branch isn’t done… He may never be the same player, but he could be… Kerby on the other hand? 
Too many to choose from:
Billy Sims, Mike Utley, Jerome Brown, Reggie Brown, Germaine Crowell, Jahvid Best…I’m sure there are some I’m forgetting. I’m a little too young to remember Chuck Hughes dying on the field, but that’s quite a list of talent lost to injury.

Poor guy was doing yard work with a weed whacker, when a semi truck ran off the road and hit him in his front yard. The truck was going fast enough to travel 400 feet after it left the road.
Lions lost Utley late in the 1991 season, and then Andolsek was killed in June of 1992. Both starting OGs gone in a 7 month span.

Hassanein is going to be a high effort, high motor player. I really think he could be a dark horse this year. Him and Hutch feeding off each other would be a dream.

You’re right. I shouldn’t say he’s done. My brain went to more like done being a great player.
I try to block a lot of them out. But I’m still sticking with this one. How the hell did we hit the jackpot on two top safety’s one a top NB also who compliment the hell out of each other and then hit the jackpot on bad luck with both?
I’m not a doctor and i won’t speak for them, but it hurts.
