So who do they draft/trade/sign?

@CMafia You have conveniently ignored my response which directly answers your question on who was available

There was a whole thread on Sweat when he was a FA early in the year

So you’te telling me that if YOU were GM, you would have been delighted to go into this season with that DE list? The same DE list that is predictably a league worst regarding pass rush? Now you’re gonna say “how do we know Brad didnt try to do more at the DE this off season?!”….because he literally said it and bristled when questioned about that group and if he thought he needed to do more…he basically said (and I paraphrase) “ I dont understand this infautuation with DE posiition by everybody, we’re good”….and on top of that, he said what is perhaps one of the most assinine, inane, and tone deaf things I’ve ever heard a DET sport GM say in “it’s almost like, fans are mad that we even have Hutch”…and thats saying alot when looking at all the stupid shit DET GM’s have said over the decads. So if the Lions dont make the playoffs, and end the season still at the league bottom in pass rush, I hope Brad has the stones to wave them there receipts again…

If Ra doesn’t play… and Teslaa has 90 yards and a 4th TD in a win… will it matter?

Then Brad can teabag everyone with his reeeceeps :man_shrugging:…if, if, if, iiiffff…

I haven’t said anyone is a bust let alone “left and right” dude don’t spread lies or put words in my moth and with your troll comment. You’re trolling me if anything.

I could say right now Tyliek and Arnold are busts so far because they’re not playing well especially for 1st round picks. But I always say i hope they turn it around or I say they get 3 years. Don’t get it twisted. I’m allowed to criticize players.

Not trying to ignore you. I didn’t feel the need to respond because your response is valid. Just like someone who would have traded 2 1st round picks for Micah Parsons. Thats what my topic is about like who do you all think was available. I would never trade two 1st round picks, and I’m not sure I would have done the Sweat because I agree that the way to go is building through the draft and re-signing our own players. But again your reposnse is totaly valid.

I don’t entirely disagree with you or many of the complaints. I would have loved Brad getting a DE opposite Hutch. This was something we all wanted for the last couple years. But its easier said than done. People can’t just say “DE” because there has to be one. For example, in the draft who would you have picked instead of Tyliek? Someome said two 1sts for Micah which if I was GM I wouldn’t do. If I was GM I don’t think I would sign a high priced free agent like 98mil for Sweat either. And we need to re-up Gibbs, LaPorta, and Branch IMO. I completely believe building through the draft is the way, and it got this team from garbage to one of the best teams in the NFL. But as soon as this teams goes 7-5 people turn on it.

Again, I don’t totally disagree. I think you’re exaggerating, and extremely overreacting, and taking what he said a little out of context but I get it.

When it got to our pick I thought we would select his teammate DE JTT who ended up going to the Colts near the top of the 2nd round. I like Tyliek but I was not expecting a DT after we had brought Levi back and signed Lopez.

Bob Muhammed is good.

I was expecteding DE just like everyone else, but I didn’t see the value. Eventually he did later. We all have to understand also that Brad, and DC don’t just draft any good player. Or sign. Or trade. They only go after guys who fit the culture, including scheme. Like, AG built this defensive philosphy. Its mandatory that CB’s have to tackle. Which is why they like Arnold, and Rakestraw is a hard hitting CB and so is Amik and Reed.
