I’m so sick of the media and some fans shitting on BH for not drafting x, and for not trading for x, and not signing x, and all the sudden signing high priced free agents, and trading away draft picks for players is the way to go? Because building through the draft is not the right way anymore?
So, who? Who should they have drafted instead of Tyliek which by the way was drafted to rush the passer. Who should they have drafted instead of Ratledge who by the way happens to be an OC/G.
Who was the free agent they should have signed for 100 mil? Putting us in cap hell possibly losing 2-3 of our best players?
Who is the guy they should have traded draft picks for risking the future, and putting us in more cap hell instead og having rookie contracts?
I want answers. And don’t say they should have got a “position”. I want names.
Trading away draft picks for a project WR luxury pick then signing Jamo, I would not have done.
Going into the season with DE: Hutch, chronically injured Davenport, chronically injured Paschal, Bob Muhammed, and a now injured project 6th rd draft pick, as the plan at DE, I also would not have done.
As far as who I would have picked/taken/signed/traded for? Idk, but pay me half of Brads salary, give me the resources, and give me all the other NFL GM’s phone numbers and I’ll try to do more/better than what I listed above.
I’m not the expert, but it seems that so far, the 2025 draft was not a strong one for DL and Edges…and OT. Too early to know, I know. But if you look at the people drafted after Tyliek, none of them jump off the page, maybe except Scourton who has done fairly well. Conerly, an OT drafted right after us, has struggled. I think Brad did as well as he could in 2025 with rounds 1 & 2, anyway.
Tyleik was drafted to be Reader’s replacement. He will be next year. He’s a 330 pound nose tackle who plays the run well. He was not drafted to be a pass rusher. Keep in mind the OP has called Tyleik a bust all season long and can’t even spell his name right.
Hopefully he can develop as a pass rusher. But for a rookie has been solid for us.
Defensive side of the ball, players we could have drafted, looks like LB Carson Schwesinger, Safety Nick Emmanwori and LB Jihaad Campbell are having good rookie seasons.
Josh Sweat was a FA that could have been signed, the guy has 11 sacks this year playing for the Cardinals
DE opposite Hutch was weak as hell and still is, everyone saw it coming.
Agree DE was weak where we were drafting so BH should have actively went after Sweat
I believe he was drafted to possibly replace Reader, but you guys are both wrong. He was drafted because they thought he was an Alim clone. He was never drafted to be a NT run stopper. Thet said so themselves. If thats all Tyliek will be good for then I’m ok with it as long as he’s great at it.
So far, trading up to select Vaki in the 4th rd has me gritting my teeth somewhat. An oft-injured ST player? I’ve wanted so much more out of him, but…
I wonder if letting Netflix leave means they think Vaki is ready to fill that role?
That doesnt help the team now, he wasted draft resources that could have used on positions/more players that are much more in need asap, be it this season, or next season. He literally drafted Jamo-lite, then signed Jamo, all when the team should be building to win NOW, It makes no sense in a win now state the Lions should be in…unless you also beleive championship windows are an “illusion”…
