Some aren't surprised by alleged incident involving Mike Hall Jr

While only allegations at this point, some around the league aren’t surprised.

Pre-draft research, per a source with knowledge of such research, gave multiple teams pause about picking Hall. Per the source, Hall was off multiple draft boards.

I’m guessing the Lions were one of those teams.

But, he was on the Lions top 30 visit list

Which can be interpreted a number of ways–either the Lions came away thinking they’d never draft Hall or (the less likely scenario), their concerns were alleviated.

In any event, reinforces what I’ve been harping on ever since the failed draft pick of Charles Rogers–character matters.

Same idea as Jalen Carter, if there are character concerns around a player don’t judge the rumors, allegations and conjecture, bring him in and challenge him on difficult subjects to make up your own mind about him. If he’s evasive, defensive or simply doesn’t own anything, then you can drop him off your board without any doubts. On the flip side, if he’s transparent, open and has reasonable explanations for whatever the concerns are, then you can perhaps steal a march on other teams by keeping him on the board when others might automatically drop him just on the basis of the rumors, allegations and conjecture.

It never hurts to get more information.

Hall was arrested and booked Tuesday, a police spokesperson told ESPN. He pleaded not guilty, according to a clerk at Avon Lake Municipal Court. His bond was set at $10,000 and he has a hearing scheduled for Sept. 10.

There could be other sources, but I’ve heard the Earl Pitts schtick on the radio referring Merica.

It will be interesting to see how the NFL reacts to this.

Lions promptly cut Sutton and (last I knew) had salary implications because of it.

Browns let the process play out…

Which look will the NFL reward/punish? Stay tuned.

Not familiar with him. I blew my ears out a few years back shooting a 5,56 in an enclosed space so now I read more than listen.

Jim Varney did a similar character, as I recall.

Does Mike know that on Sundays he can’t use guns to try and create penetration?

If Hall wasn’t from right outside Columbus, I wonder if he ever would’ve ended up at Ohio State.

Browns doing what the browns do. But thank god he wasn’t gambling on college football from the teams WiFi……I mean he was just threatening a woman with a gun. Im sure it was self defense. Why else would a professional football player need a gun against a woman? Must have been fearful for his life……
