I feel like he wants ownership that’ll back his decisions and be deep pockets to give him best resources to win. Payton will have expectations to live up to so if he sees ownership as a hindrance , why risk his legacy ?
It even makes me feel better about Sheila upgrading the field ahead of schedule. First class- that’s what he’s looking for

To be fair, the Broncos QBs have thrown 8 INTs in the last 4 weeks including 2 pick 6s. Not exactly helping the defense out with that stellar play on offense.
I thought the league implemented a rule that teams trading or losing coaching and executives can’t seek trade compensations.
I know you can’t ask for trade compensation for other coaching staff members (OC’s/DC’s/position coaches) and I assume you can’t ask for compensation for executives. But for whatever reason, NFL Head Coaches are allowed:
