Stats show how badly Jared Goff struggled under pressure vs. Bucs

Jared Goff went 9/17 for 117 yards, 2 INTs, and had a 35.3 passer rating when under pressure in the Lions’ home loss vs. Tampa Bay.

It’s probably fine . We either need a protect him better, which is the obvious solution… or eventually down the road will need a more mobile quarterback. But even mobile quarterbacks need protection.

Every QB is going to get pressured.

Man, imagine if we had a running game that - instead of passing 55 times - we could rely on to help keep Goff from facing pressure 17 times in a game. Even better, we could run the ball and then use play action to keep the defense on their heels.

Goff hasn’t played great, but Ben Johnson hasn’t playcalled great either. There’s a lot we could be doing to help our offense that we’re just not doing.

The first interception was BS. Blatant PI which should have been called don’t feel like it had anything to do with pressure. The second one he was pressured and was a throw he shouldn’t have attempted.

Additionally, there were 2 more that probably should have been picked off that were dropped. Goff had a rough day, imo…a really rough one.

our defense was just ranked 5th-which is likely due to Hutch’s sacks, so what did the Offensive Line rank last week …that would be more telling to why Goff was a mess.

It’s not fair to put this on the OL when you pass 55 times or whatever it is what. You’re going to give up a lot of pressures when you drop back that many times. I didn’t notice anything glaringly poorous on the OL, just way too many attempts.

Ben Johnson was beyond horrible that game. As soon as VV goes out, we needed to establish a run and playaction and did the absolute opposite.

I often wonder why they don’t just let you guys coach. Some have it all figured out. This place’s favorite line is all they had to do is this. Lol. I don’t pretend to be a coach or know what the play call is. But I know what throwing the to the other team and in to the dirt or throwing in to coverage with guys running free is.

Another Goff hate theead…surprised this wasn’t started by Catholic Ninja.

You’re so blinded by Jared Goff’s poor play, you don’t even see the irony in your post. You call out others for pretending to be coaches or some stupid shit and then turn around and do the same exact thing with Jared Goff as if apparently you’re an NFL QB.

You don’t need to be a coach to know that Sam LaPorta is missing from this offense, that the redzone play calling has been subpar, that play action (which was a bread and butter part of this offense last year) has completely disappeared, or that running the ball 55 times when you have 2 of the NFLs best running backs and the best offensive line in football in a game where your QB is struggling and the defense lost their star player on the defensive line is a bad idea. I don’t pretend to be a coach or know what the play call is. But I know that these are simple concepts in football and am puzzled why anyone would only place the blame on the QB when there is plenty to go around for how bad this offense has been.

This is who Goff is, anyone who thought differently was lying to themselves. I made the case from day 1 that he was not special in anyway and needs a perfect supporting cast to be good. And he’s been good, very good, but he’s never going to be able to do it on his own.

Fortunately, I think all the problems on offense will be solved soon… It’s rust, some flow/scheme issues, some identity crisis… Eventually, the offense will be humming again, like an old v8 that just needs to clear its lungs before it gets going.

That means Goff was unpressured on 38 dropbacks.

His stats on those plays were as follows…

25/38
190 yards
0 TDs
0 INTs

Goff usually performs much better than that on that many dropbacks.

Goff hasn’t looked the same emotionally - at all.

I think he’s got something going on. Problems at home? Not sure. He hasnt’ looked the same. In pregame speech, feels more like going through the motions…in lots of plays, it looks like happy feet and nervousness…sometimes for no reason. Lack of trust.

I think he’ll be fine. Also think something isn’t the same.

On the first, he’s expecting Jamo to cut left into the middle of the field. Jamo’s not there. He never made the cut because he’s been held. The ball goes to the safety.

On the second, he’s expecting Patrick to cut left into the middle of the field. Patrick’s not there. He never made the cut, he just kept on going. The ball goes to the safety.

The second one was actually remarkably similar to the first.

I know it’s over you, but there has been a big debate here about Goff’s play. That article has some good info.

Not blinded at all , I never said Jared should do this or that. Just pointed out he had many chances to win and shit the bed everytime our OC dominated time of possion. And many have blame play calling and the oline and any other excuse. You guys talk about pressure look at what Baker went through and he put up 20 points.

And I stand by that most of you have no ideal what the play call was and if it was Jared that checked in or out of a play.

Yep Jared said this he thought it was a free play.

My stance is and has been , that the game was not prefect by any means playing calling and the oline pressure. But our QB had plenty of chances to make a play to win and didn’t. He is a 200 million dollar man he who you should want the ball in his hands when the game is on the line.
