Fair enough. I heard Khan mentioned by Stoney during the segment. Sounds like he was wholly wrong from his source. Though if Detroit has Colbert locked down by Pittburgh after thowing interest maybe then they can make the play for Brandon Hunt who would see himself roadblocked by Colbert locked down in front of him. Three dimensional chess.
Yep. Probably just a classic case of āRadio guy wants more listeners.ā
Content. Must. Be. Created!
Still have a feeling itās going to be Holmes this just seems made up.
Bahahahahahahaha!

Colbert built a two-time Super Bowl-winner. A team that has won its division 10 times since heās been there.
They have talent and depth all over the field. They fell apart at the end of this year because Roethlisberger fell apart, and turned the ball over a ton of times in the playoff game.
And your knocks against him are moving out a malcontent for what they could get for him in the moment ā who incidentally hasnāt done much of anything since; good timing! ā and Ebron, who was actually kind of decent for them? THEY didnāt pick Ebron in the top 10.
Sorry, but this is a horrid take. The Lions couldnāt do better than Colbert at GM.
Zero reason he would want to come here unless the Steelers are going with Hunt or Kahn as there new GM.Even then he would have other job opportunities.
All you can do as a sports fan is hope they leave no stone unturned and use every resource they have to get the best guy.
I have no idea how this is going to turnout but Iām encouraged
First off, Colbert is under control of the Steelers until May. As their GM. Thatās a contract. An offer on the table from the Lions would be tampering. Contact from the Lions would be tampering. The Lions publicly talking about Colbert would be tampering.
Secondly, I ām not saying Colbert would be a train wreck hire, Iām just not convinced heās the kind of hire that people think he would be.
Can Colbert change the front office? Unknown, he didnāt have to.
Is Colbert a game changer at GM? Unknown. Steelers were the same before he got the job.
Can Colbert improve the scouting and mimic the Steelers success, or adapt and improve what the Lions are doing? Unknown.
Point is, there arenāt too many things heās done where you can legitimately point out and say, āThatās what Kevin Colbert brings to the table.ā without being able to also be able to say, "thatās the Steelers front office being the Steelers front office, itās what theyāve always done. ".
Imo, he embodies the Steelers approach of front office teamwork and fits perfectly there. Can he transform the Lions into that? I donāt know, Iād like to say yes. Iād like to have a grand slam hire in Colbert, but personally, I see holes in the accolades I can drive a truck through.
Lastly, there are plenty of people who have spoken regarding how to build a team. About position values when drafting. Take a good, hard look at their drafting over the past five years. Five consecutive years of 2nd round WRās. Secondary and LBās in the first round. (Although, Iād love me some TJ Watt on this team). Iām just saying, Iām not impressed. Imo, Colbert is more name than substance, and I donāt know how he performs without the Steelers organization backing him up.
Stoney outed as Full of Crap right there with that quote alone.
Reminds me of that time that internet Lions dude told everyone on the forum that the Lions had signed Roosevelt Colvin.

The Steelers finished third and fourth in their division in the two seasons before Colbert got there. They were 6-10 the year before Colbert got there.
Colbert has unquestionably run the show in Pittsburgh. He has a tight, insular team of him, Omar Khan, Brandon Hunt, Phil Kreidler and Dan Rooney Jr. with which he is very collaborative. But I have seen nothing, anywhere, that indicates the teams the Steelers have fielded for the past 20 years arenāt the work of Colbert. Have you seen something I havenāt?
So i was listening to the local sports talk on my morning run after this thread first brokeā¦tunch and wolf were on and this is their conversation about Colbert and the Lions:
Tunch: Did you hear that crazy twitter rumor this moring wolfie?
Wolf: No, what one is that Tunch?
Tunch: Apparently the Lions have offered Kevin a insane deal to be their GM.
Wolf: Bahahahahahahahahahahaha, I needed a good laugh this morning. So letās talk about this weekendās games.
We would live because we would also see moves like the trade for Minkah Fitzpatrick and I donāt think the Steelers had a WR problem when they cut Brown and they never ended up having one because they draft so well.
Yeah, I think they got rid of Brown at just the right time, he had become a cancer in that locker room.
I like Colbert but why offer the job to someone whoās on the verge of retiring? Pressure is on Colbert especially after the Steelers lost 4 of the last 5 games.
I know theyāve been in decline ever since Doug Whaley left their front office. A slow and steady decline. Inertia counts for alot.
Their best draft since Whaley left was 2017. Whaley left the Steelers in early 2010, and undoubtedly his work contributed to that draft class.
By and large, the Steelers draft a ton of LBās and WRās, year in and year out. Thatās their MO, always has been, always will be. It works for them. They go outside that only occasionally. They find offensive line help outside the normal channels.
Fact is, their drafts have been solid, but not excellent, since Whaleyās departure. I just donāt see Colbert as being what the Lions need.
Good gaaawwwd. that mustāve been awful for them. We achieve a six win season about twice each decade.

Stoney got played for a fool. Iād totally out that source if I was him assuming he just didnāt pull it out of his ass. I mean Stoney looks like a total clown if itās true that Lions didnāt even request to speak with Colbert yet and thus cannot even be in any contact with him as heās still under contract until May.
The Steelers have only had one losing season since Colbert got there. Obviously heās not the only reason for their success, but he is an integral piece.
Give him a check, let him fill in the amount.
