Lots of crap floating through my brains before I dive into financial spreadsheets this morning.
Z is coming back. Our Edge position looks good enough with him in it. While smart money predicts a one-year deal, I see it as a two with team friendly base plus incentives. Time will tell.
“This draft isn’t sexy.” I have heard from broadcasters and podcasters about how we didn’t have a sexy draft. If you don’t like dirtbags, nasty bastards, and wicked sob’s, then you might feel that way. For those that like our players nasty, this draft rocks hard on the eggplant scale.
Detroit Hangover. Remember when there was talk of the “Detroit Hangover” last year? Teams played us and then would lose the following week as well because they were beat to hell. I believe that will be more so in play this year. We loaded our trenches with street fighters on the interior just to make you hate playing us all the more.
Cap casualties. I believe this draft was a class in cap savings going forward in some respects. DJ Reader and Glasgow are on last year of deals. I have every reason to believe DJ makes the team. GG? well he will have to fight for his job in camp or the cost savings plus young talent could make him expendable. I don’t believe either will be with us in 26.
We all (most anyway) wanted an Edge this draft. We did get one and he is a project not so different than Manu. Has all the physical traits, has production in a lesser conference, but needs technique in the worst way. I see this kid being an upward trajectory player and should find his footing in year 2 or 3.
BroMart has been a disappointment. I love this guy and want him to succeed. But if camp is rough for him, he is gone and would need to be. If he can finally put together his size and athleticism, he could be a major difference maker. But he hasn’t and the clock is running out. I hope he shows and makes us feel silly for doubting. But I will doubt until I see it.
Hope you all have a great day. Time to get some work done.
AH was on to the MWC’s elite pass rushers for two years running. He’s RAS but he’s nowhere near Manu raw. He’s also nowhere near as rare of an athlete.
Glasgow is under contract until 2026. He’s due 7.4m this year and 8.4m next year. Definitely a cap cut candidate next year if our young guards show they can play and we can find a decent guy to backup Ragnow, whether that guy is already on the roster or not? Hard to tell, but Brad said they’d certainly give the new guards some run at C to see if they could hold up.
Bro Mart won’t be a productive DT in the NFL unless he can somehow go from 6’5" to 6’2". Guy just can’t stay low. It was an issue in college against bad talent and it’s just as bad against talent that blows him off the line.
I feel like AH is more like a five tech? Maybe a Paschal replacement? His ten yard split is like…pretty bad. He’s is definitely a try hard guy and gets a lot of cleanup sacks it looks like. Looks like there is room for development.
