Pat Kirwin discussed this trade idea on his sirius show yesterday and said 2 firsts wouldn’t do it for him, not even move the needle.
The firsts are going to be bottom firsts, almost a second rd pick. Why, why, would LV trade their best player for this, the return draft picks, 2 firsts would do little to equal Crosby.
Now 2 firsts and 2 seconds, you got my interest feeling a little bit warmer about this deal but still not positive.
Stated that he gets what the deal does for Detroit but you need to REALLY look at what LV is losing, the impact on their team. When you do that the offer has to go up, significantly up.
I don’t think Hooker would have any value to Raiders. If they sell Crosby, it’s because they are going to tank and fire Pierce and LV would want the splash of drafting a franchise QB.
Hooker has the hidden upside to give fans hope that is Goff was lost for any stretch of games that maybe Detoit could still win.
I trade 2 FRP’s without batting an eye for Crosby though, as the hope is they are very late FRP’s. Crosby saves the hype of this season, and hope for next season with the potential for Hutch and Maxx on each Edge and the rest of the team pretty much returning.
The draft picks are actually more valuable because the Lions can’t afford everybody, going to need young cheap replacements to fill in the gaps once the Lions lose some of their 2nd contract guys.
I also see the point in “going for it” by emptying the vault for Crosby but team depth is going to be severely compromised with such a trade and it could shorten the contention window long term although strengthen it in the short term.
That is possible. But as long as we hang onto our seconds, thirds and fourths, we can replenish. Plus, I’m hearing that Crosby or garrett contracts are not unmanageable. Perhaps we wouldn’t be able to sign an Iffy or a Barnes. That is life for a top notch team and a salary cap and why comp picks come into play.
But for example, look at our second rounder from last year, Rakestraw. He’s a very good player from all accounts but can’t break into the lineup with Terrion, Amik, and Carlton aready ahead of him. And remember that’s with Mosely hurt.
Sure our first rounder (TA) is seeing the field over Vildor because Vildor was the weak link on the whole team. There aren’t many weak links left. Whereas in the past, anyone with a faint heartbeat was going to see the field. That’s when you need your draft picks. Also when you’re getting premium players like Jamo, Penei and Hutch. We’re not getting those players anymore, so the picks aren’t as valuable.

I think you and Pat are right, @frm710, two firsts aint gonna get it done. Throwing in Pascal, Houston or even Levi probably would not move the needle either. Za’Darius is much more likley and feels much more like a Brad move.
I have a feeling it’ll start to leak before kickoff tomorrow. There is a possibility his medicals could be holding it up. I can’t wait to tell my group about this. Just don’t want to yet, juuusssttt in case. You morons, who cares lol.
I never said the trade would be official tomorrow. I said Monday. Might hear some leaks of a ‘deal on principle’, or some other stipulation tomorrow. I’d be surprised if Crosby plays a snap tomorrow in LA. If he does I am wrong. I really don’t think I am though. I’m not trying to stir the pot at all. I heard from someone I trust and has told me stuff in the past that came to light that they are in agreement on the package. I know this will be the end of me here if I’m wrong.,that’s how much I trust this guy. I’d expect Crosby on the Lions sooner than later.
Maybe he reposted it because it’s a picture of the high school field that is named after him? And he was told to take it down because people at the Raiders might misconstrue why he reposted it.
If it’s a 1st and two picks in 2026 then we’re robbing the Raiders blind.
Don’t I know it. He got back to me this am and said from what he’s heard this is still very much a go. I’m starting to get anxious because I expected some of the bigger guns in the business to have heard something…but they are very careful about putting that kind of info out there. This might be goodbye, this might be my knighting moment.
