Hmmmmm I’m not going to read too much into this… This staff has shown resistance to shuffling other players out of position when injuries arise. They’d rather slide the backup in and keep the starters at their position
DC said he’s not gonna let players handcuff them this year. Not sure exactly what that means but he wants the best 5 on the field week one.

Tate was originally drafted as our long-term C, don’t forget. Maybe they’ve decided to see what that looks like now, given Mays’s injury? Frankly C is so important and Tate is so smart and good at the 2nd level, I don’t hate the idea. It makes us weaker at RG, but OG is the easiest spot to fill on the line. C is not.
This is a trait that’s lacking at every level of sports as well as business. Straight up honesty on what your role is and how you’re performing.
Put the weaker guard option next to Sewdll?
I saw where they had Mahogany playing on the right and that, to me, is where he should be. He’s much better suited on that side (as he showed the one time he got to play it for a full game).

If healthy, I certainly have more faith in Bartch than in Scruggs. So Penei-Bartch-Rat-Mahogs-Miller might well be the best 5 if they can get the reps in and the communication going.
AND this kind of yanking around on the IOL weeks away from the regular season is less than ideal.
Now is as good a time as any to revive the short leg theory with Mahagony.
And about the time it gets settled I expect Bartch to get injured.

Bartch is actually a good player, but he’s the Davenport of guards. And just can’t stay on the field. He won the 49ers starting job last year, he ain’t a scrub as some joked about when he was signed.
Hopefully God gifts him 1 healthy season cause he’s a good player
