Kid looks good at Right Guard. Thank goodness we didn’t force him to center like a few posters claimed was coming. If a kid is really good at one position, let him play that position.
RT, RG, LG look good for future. Not sure how many more years Deck has and if Manu will develop enough to step in. The same for Glasgow. Does he have this year and next year left in him so we can draft our center of the future?
Pretty sure they still view ratledge as the center of the future, but we shall see
Oh yea don’t get me wrong. Develop him at center…but as a rookie let him Kick ass where he is most comfortable
The coaches have figured it out
They may but that opens RG up as a need. So it may just be who is available in the draft next year - better C or RG prospect?
I do like having a really smart center that is also physically dominating. If Ratledge can be that then I am all for it.
Ratledge moves to C next year. Frazier steps in at RG.
Problem solved.
Agree. Next year he moves over to Center and Frazier into the RG slot.
Ragnow did exact same, start at G and move to C. Also we already have some exciting players at Guard, who can develop into an starting role (Frazier, Muti) and for sure you can find way easier a starting guard than center via draft.
So yeah, I still think they want to develop Tate into our future center.
It’s easier to find a good guard than it is a good center. If the Lions view him as an eventual center, they won’t hesitate to move him there because it opens up a hole at G. Good guards can be found at almost any point in the draft. Look where the Lions took Mahogany. And it’s not really luck - good guards are frequently found that late. Centers? Not so much.
That’s why I’m hoping Frazier surprises us and can play right tackle. Let him develop as a swing for the next year or two and then move Sewell to the left after Decker leaves. If ratledge can play center you’d only need a right guard for years barring injuries.
That would be great. Then all the Lions need to do is find a good guard and their set for many years. Maybe Manu will be serviceable next year.
That would be the dream scenario. Manu developing into a real, long term replacement for decker, Sewell stays on the right and Frazier takes over right guard. Imagine having a line of Manu mahogany ratledge Frazier and Sewell. All under 27 years old.
Agreed. But it would be nice to get some stability at RG though. Sewell has had a different guy playing beside him almost every year. Big V, GG, Zeitler, Tate
