First off, this guy is a stud, a leader and I hope it all works out. But boy he looked average at best against the Vikings pass rush. He gave up like 7 pressures and a blind side sack fumble. I hope he turns it around but wondering if we need to go OT in the draft up high.
I would not worry about it. Decker had a bad game, by now means a bad season, he was going up against a really really good DE.
Decker is still solid… But I think he might be regressing a bit…this is year 9 afterall
Manu gonna be a monster
He gets caught out over his skis from time to time, but I don’t think it’s because he’s getting older. It’s always been an issue. He’s done a very good job of keeping it to a minimum, but when he gets beat it’s almost always the reason. He sometimes gets a little impatient to land his hands first.
Well, let’s see.
Over the past three games, Jared Goff has had a record setting performance for a QB.
Goff went 22 for 25 on Sunday, finishing with 280 yards, two touchdowns, no turnovers and a passer rating of 140.0. He had a passer rating of 153.8 one week earlier in Dallas and 155.8 in his “perfect” game against Seattle.
According to team officials, Goff is just the fourth quarterback in NFL history to post a passer rating of 140 or above in three consecutive games. The others are Aaron Rodgers (2011), Kurt Warner (1999) and Roger Staubach (1971).
Next Sunday, Goff will face the Titans with a chance at history on the line, becoming the first quarterback in NFL history to record a QB rating of 140 or better in four consecutive games.
The Lions are also 4th in NFL in rushing yards per game:
And 9th is rushing yards per attempt:
Hmmm. There must really be a problem at LT.
I can’t believe Brad and Dan are just sitting on their hands and doing nothing while watching this mess at LT. I don’t understand why we don’t trade a 2026 7th and Kindle Vildor for a young stud tackle that can man the line with Penei for the next 10 years. What a clown show front office. ![]()
Just cuz Goff is playing well doesn’t mean we shouldn’t get ahead of Father Time and draft a OT in 2nd round. Let’s see how he does the rest of the year. To be clear, I’m grateful for Decker but this is a tough business most of the time. He seems to be giving up the most pressures of his career by week 7.
Joking aside, I think the Lions are trying to stay ahead of the aging line. They drafted Mahogany for an interior position and Manu as a longer term project for the outside. I don’t know how deep the 2025 draft is at T/G, but wouldn’t be surprised to see them take another OL either. With that said, OL also tend to have a longer shelf life in terms of performing at a high level than almost any other position with the exception of maybe QB AND K/P.
When Decker’s done, I think Sewell switches permanently to the left side and Mork from Ork, er I mean Manu a Manu, will compete for the starting job at RT.
Manu will be cut in year 3
It was a bad game by Decker for sure. But he’s had those before and has turned it around. Hoping for the same.
All that said, my mantra going into the draft was 'let’s keep a strength (OL) a strength." I was really hoping for a G/T combo player in the first three rounds.
Penei, Decker and Frank were first rounders. We need to look at high-level replacements in the 25 draft at either C or T, someone who can also play G (C/G or T/G).
Decker is doing fine.
Having said that, draft should be DE round 1, OT round 2.
Deck will be hitting year 10, and Manu is still just potential.
Grab a couple people early at those two positions that dominated in a big conference.
As much as I think the draft will be line focused, OL or DL, at the top of the draft, Holmes will do what he will do. I’m good with it.
Trust in Brad …
Right. Its still fun to play GM though. Even though we all prolly would suck at it.
Players have bad games. It happens.
Bad matchup, not feeling his best, personal issue, it could be a number of one off, isolated issues.
Ragnow had a horrible game a few weeks ago and has bounced back to his dominant self.
I wouldn’t worry about Decker unless he starts to stack bad games.
Manu is on the roster as a developmental player and will be on the roster next year along with Decker and Penei.
I doubt if an early draft pick will be used to select a 4th tackle for the roster.
If there is some doubt about Manu’s development timeline or a Decker rapid decline a better vet OT would be signed as an upgrade to Skipper.
Even if he hasn’t panned out like we hoped by then, no way this FO gives up on him that quickly.
The bad games have started to stack up. He has fallen off a cliff. Good run blocking though.
