But seriously this highlights how silly Brad’s decision to be conservative the past couple of years was. We definitely could have won atleast one bowl if we made strategic signings in FA to push us over the edge.

Brad should demand Taylor give him a decision by March 1st at the latest. CANNOT go into the draft/off season roster planning with any surprises/question marks again, especially on the â– â– â– â– â– â– â– OL.

This is a no brainer. Agreed. @KarlKaliente it shouldn’t really matter what Decker says. Either way we need a starting future tackle. We can forgive an amazing number of things (no tight end), crappier defense, etc if we have a good O line. Whatever it takes to shore that up should be priority 1.

Man, Solid LT’s don’t grow on trees. Its a premier top 3 position. Look at Ratledge and Mahogany. Not bad players, but worse than what we had. I dont trust Sewell at LT. This would be a big loss despite him not playing great.
You could hear retirement in his voice when Decker was telling the media how much Frank was enjoying not squatting 500 plus pounds every day. Then of course Frank tried to come back anyways so who knows with these guys

Yeah, a decision needs to be made about this ASAP. Decker will know this is the case after the Ragnow debacle. Ideally, they both come back for one last ride, or we replace both this offseason, come hell or high water.
But there’s no sitting on the fence here, he must decide in advance of free agency. Not that Brad will find a replacement there, but if he’s going to have to draft a LT early, he’d better know and prepare accordingly with his free agent signings at other spots.

Strategically Decker should keep quiet about it until after the draft. Holmes is most likely going to take action on OT regardless, but no need to let the rest of the NFL know that we’re going into the draft desperate for a LT.
So sure, sit down with Holmes ( 1 on 1) and let him know, and then shut the hell up about it.
Yea, I’m pretty sure the league knows we’re going into the draft needing an OT, IOL, S and more.
I doubt Decker’s comments were a revelation to anyone.

Against the Commanders last year the Lions D was missing starters Carlton Davis, Branch, Joseph, Hutch, McNeill, and Davenport. Plus a bunch of key backups like Melifonwu, O’Connor, Wingo, Amik, Dorsey…
Please say more about the “strategic signings” that would have led to a Super Bowl.

I already had OT as a round 1-2 level need for the Lions simply based on Decker’s age and injuries. It would stink to lose him, but I don’t think anyone will be caught off guard.
