Yea it’s tough for sure in mid rounds. Rarely does a non 1st round qb amount to anything.
This is a great QB class coming up in 2027, there should be good value in the mid rounds… A 4th or 5th rounder I can live with

that Diego Pavia will NEVER make an active game day roster.
Not once.
He may never even make a PS at this point.
He is like a less talented Johnny Manziel… perhaps without the addiction issues… but still not talented enough to make a roster.

That being said, I don’t think this is about a lack of talent. He must have said some VERY stupid things during the combine team interviews.
Hot take, but whomever in the Lions front office it was that felt like Teddy Bridgewater was the best option for a backup QB going into 2026 … should have their QB evaluation privileges removed permanently.
Was it the same person that signed off on Hendon Hooker? Seriously, they need to step back and let someone else make the QB personnel decisions. Don’t care if it was Dan, Brad or both.
At some point, a backup QB may need to get you through 4-5 games to salvage a season. A broke down 2026 Bridgewater or ridiculously bad Herndon Hooker were both strange calls.

Honestly I think the Teddy love is/was 100% Dan from their days together in NO.

right, but they let Allen walk to resign Bridgewater, so they blew up the one decent move. So now they are back to about 0-5 in back-up QB’s that can be developed or potentially win a game or us. Maybe Dobbs will be better than we think
Or, they tried to sign Allen again and he chose to return to Buffalo since he and Josh Allen are such close friends.

how did they manage to sign him last year? pretty sure Josh Allen was in the league in 2025. money talks … if we were willing to pay, do you doubt he would have stayed?

I’m sure there’s a number that would have kept him here, sure, but you can’t just pay everyone all the money. We’re building a roster, and honestly, how often have we needed our backup QB while Goff has been here? Plus we have guys to pay. I’m sure we gave him an offer that was compatible with what he made last year and he chose Buffalo. Plus they gave him a 2-year deal, which might mean more than the money at this point.
I just reacted to the idea that ‘whoever’s idea it was to bring in Teddy should have their QB evaluation privileges removed immediately,’ as you said. You’re focused on the times it went wrong while ignoring the times it went right. Including, most importantly, bringing in Goff. I suspect the same person was in charge of all of those decisions.

That is definitely a lack of talent problem.
I still think Altmyer was the developmental backup and Teddy and now Dobbs is simply a veteran presence.
