Jeremy Reisman on X is doing the All-22 breakdown right now and everything I was saying in the game thread about how bad the play design was is showing up:
No idea what they are doing on that passing play. But wow does that angle show just how deep the Packers safeties were playing. They are both 20 yards from the LOS.
I hate to bring this up again, because I was told earlier in the offseason that the NY press just hated Morton or something, but it was reported that one of the reasons he got fired from the Jets is because he couldn’t/refused to adjust (among other things like being a poor playcaller, having run ins with players/other staff, etc).
In fairness it’s been reported that Ben Johnson offered OC job to Morton in Chicago. He is obviously highly thought of in the Lions building. There is a really good chance he sucks though.
I would think so. But he still wouldn’t offer the job to some loser immediately. Especially if he thought he would have run ins with players and staff.
In the past our running game was so good safeties couldn’t play that deep. And teams would roll a safety down into.the box to try to stop the run. Not being able to run the ball is my biggest concern. Cause so many of our best plays are designed off play action
