‘That’s inspired me’: Bond between Barnes, Anzalone sparks Lions’ defense

Hhhhmmmm, notice this was year one and two, not just recent.
Wasn’t someone on the board saying the relationship just changed, can’t recall who but someone.
Just contrary to what I had been hearing, no idea who to believe seems obvious Barnes is lying in this article, at least from what we have heard here.

For Barnes, the gesture from Anzalone taking him under his wing has meant everything.

“Alex, in my eyes, he’s a star, man. A guy that knows the game, a guy that knows where to be at the right time. You know, me and Alex always talk. We train together, he’s really become my best friend,” Barnes said. “I always thank him, because I don’t think I would be right here in this league without him, honestly. A guy who took me under his wing, explained to me a lot of things when I was going through the situations I was going through my first and second years. Gave me some confidence because he believed in me, and that was huge for me.

I remember someone. I really laughed at the “he’s really become my best friend” when someone told us that AA would likely not be invited to Barnes’ wedding.

I do like the fact that AA is leading that room and seems to be playing the role of a mentor to the young guys coming up and making himself available to talk things out and remind them of what they need to do to be successful.

Really seeing the impact that Dan and Brad are having on the players and making them accountable to one another…developing a real family type bond and seems the legitimately want one another to succeed!

He was invited, but didn’t RSVP in time. Clearly the Coach has lost the locker room

On a serious note, great to see the linebacker group playing so well.

I thought I read somewhere that Anzalone was at Barnes’ wedding…
but I could be wrong.

On the other hand… Barnes was NOT wrong when he decided his bride was a beauty…

HILARIOUS

Barnes is a super-grateful dude. So easy to root for him. He will never take his gifts for granted.

AA was at the wedding. There was a certain poster who also went to the wedding but all but guaranteed that AA would not be invited.

To that posters credit though, they said they chatted with AA and he was very friendly so that’s good to hear.

His wife is gorgeous and I am glad that things appear to be falling into place for Barnes…easy guy to root for!

I try bud, I try! I miss every joke I don’t swing at.

Also at Cap. We love you bud.
I was just kidding around. Most of us are excited for Barnes. He looks legit in run defense.

You know, I simply don’t understand what that guy’s end game is. He is now using the phrase, “snap shot”, so for 2 minutes he may have been right. Literally…2 minutes.

Polaroid?

No… he was NEVER right.

His whole argument was that Anzalone only played due to some bias that MCDC and Glenn had to promote Anzalone as as a “pet”… which flies in the face of EVERY other personnel decision made by this regime.

They have 1st and 2nd round picks that have had to earn their snaps… and even been called out publicly to some degree.

They have signed other UFAs they had a history with (CJGJ)… and then changed his role from slot CB to safety when Branch won that role.

They traded up for Jamo… and still didn’t hand him snaps because of that investment.

Barnes himself has now disclosed that Anzalone has been critical to his development. Considers him a best friend. That is not what I would think if I thought I should have been playing over a guy in front of me unless I knew he was deserving of the role he had earned.

The funny thing is that the narrative of Cap is that Anzalone has improved significantly this year… and now he has earned his credit… but Cap hasn’t acknowledged that Barnes has … by ALL ACCOUNTS…. improved significantly this year… and has now finally earned his snaps. The silly thing is that Barnes wasn’t even competing with Anzalone last year… he didn’t beat Rodrigo out for the job. He was #3 for the off-ball LB job… not even #2….

The only reason Rodrigo was ahead of Barnes is because of his jersey sales during training camp were so high. Not because he performed at a higher level
