The bad and the good from Lions 2020

I expect Leos to lose this weekend and set the franchise record for most yards and points surrendered. Which brings me to the bad and good from 2020. Fact is this defense is worse than the team that went 0-16 in 2008, yet this team won 5 games.

Our offense is better than you think. Even with Golladay mostly ghost and Stafford unable to finish a couple games, there’s only 7 teams in the league who have passed for more yards, and we’re smack dab in the middle for scoring even without our TD leader (golladay) or starting our best RB (swift) for half the year.

I know the whole thing will rightfully be blown up, but if this D had capable interior rushers and LBs who could cover anything, our corners wouldn’t have been in hundreds of impossible situations this year.

How about you? What’s your Good & Bad read on this Lions football year?

I agree that the offense isn’t too bad. Swift and Hock both look like they have solid futures. We also have a few solid o-lineman. Decker and Ragnow for sure can play.

The defense is beyond pathetic, a lot of that is the scheme, but the players are real bad too. We have no chance to be competitive until we stop giving up 40 points per game. We desperately need a pass rush. QB’s just sit in the pocket forever and pick us apart play after play after play.

The good = Promising future for O line, Swift, and Hockenson breaking out.

The bad = Every single thing else.

Good: firing QUINTRICIA
Bad: taking too long to do it

We got a punter, the O can be built upon, and we’ll get a decent spot to pick in the draft.

The bad,well…

Also, I agree that Offense is even better than you think. Imagine this O if Golladay had remained healthy. Probably not enough to carry the team but that’s a top 10 Offense. Offense hasn’t had Stafford and Golladay on the field at the same time
much over the past 2 seasons. When they have been, good things have happened.

Find a way to keep the Offense close to intact and healthy for 2021 + build the Defense to be at least average (The biggest challenge) + sprinkle in some decent coaching = playoff team.

I like the positivity, I really do. My concern is that we may never see Stafford or Golladay healthy though. Once injuries start creeping in at the NFL level, it’s usually the Not For Long league.

Imagine if the defense could get off the field on 3rd downs, giving the ball back to the offense.

P U N T E R!!!
Love it!

Also - Depth at OL, although they could still use more talent on the right side.
Swift, although he needs help (other than KJ and AP)
TE, although we could use depth (hopefully cheaper than James)

D will be changed, and that’s a good thing. Philosophy and Strategy will change.
Players will change.

the bad - this will take a long time to turn around (supposing they can do it).

The Good - Swift
The Bad - Coach and GM
The Ugly - No change in ownership

The Good- firing Patricia and Quinn
The Bad- Keeping Patricia and Quinn. They should have fired Patricia after his first season.
The Ugly- Matt Patricia’s face.

I have hope that Okudah will be a top flight CB. If that happens and we can get a stud DT, a LB or two that can tackle and cover and a DE and another Safety…damn. we’re screwed
