The Jahmyr Gibbs-led backfield is thriving for Detroit Lions

A new wrinkle this week would be to send Gibbs over the top on a go route for a long TD. Calling it now.

MIN LBs are skilled against the run and pass. They don’t have Turner out there getting juked out of his shoes.

Gibbs has been way better with the increased load than I guessed. I think he has another level when he learns to be more patient. We see it sometimes where he changes his speed: fast, slows wait for block, then sonic cruises.

Top 3 back in the league. Saquon, Henry, Gibbs.

Well, one of those LB’s is out

wonder what it would be if Monty had been healthy all season, can’t help but think it was because Monty has been out for a while now…

In the first Vikes game…Gibbs had 162 yards and 2 tds on 19 touches. He was terrific. Monty almost cost us that game, got banged up then fumbled late which was returned for a TD.

Yup - they’ve been saving it.

My prediction is that ITS VAKI TIME. Craig got hurt and was out Friday with a backiotomy. I want to see what a heavy does of Gibbs and Vaki for a full game can produce, because to me, there is just something about that guy that reminds me of what Montgomery brings. A lot of positive yards and a guy that doesn’t want to go down. Reynolds may play, but I bet Vaki gets more time than he has to date. Jermar should get some snaps too.

We play Hooker as a H back

Wait. Hasn’t Gibbs literally done this exact thing multiple times to Minnesota?

Jermar didn’t get elevated do it will be Gibbs, Netflix, and Vaki.

Yes to more Vaki. The dude flattens blockers and gunners at the same. Gonna be hard to bring down just like Monty.

Then you’re sleeping on Gibbs. He’s electric and inarguably a top 5 RB. If Monty wasn’t getting so many carries this season Gibbs could put up crazy numbers.

And he’s still a baby. Won’t turn 23 until March. But that’s how things are in general. Nice five year window of elite offense if we can counter brain drain.

Probably would have worked back in the love boat days.

I’m totally fine treating Gibbs like the Ferrari he is. Saquon and Henry can take the accolades and stats. AND the pounding. I remember one thing DC said that left an impression on me. He was speaking of Gibbs and I think Jamo. He said with guys like that, you can’t just leave that top end speed for game day. You have to get them to full speed a couple times every practice.

So that philosophy coupled with a 50/50 to 70/30 max workload I think is a good plan. We don’t need to treat him like a 3rd down scatback. But we are having great success with him as our Ferrari, not our F-150.

Monty, when healthy, makes a great F-150.

Reynolds is more like a Ranger or Maverick.

Maybe more like a old school Bronco…
