I wanted to post a heartfelt message from me, to all of you. Last night at the postgame, I made the comment that last year during the Minnestoa division clinching game, my son called our defense which was all backups that night, the Legion of Whom. You guys gave him a lot of love for that at the time, and with how well our defense played last night, I posted that we needed to bring that back out.
I saw a good many of you posting it, and reposting it in other threads. When I woke up this morning, I saw the name popping up even more. I sent my son a text, and told him that his nickname was catching on. I also told him, being serious, I know some of the media guys cruise our board looking at what people are saying and borrowing our topics for show content bits.
Shortly after I texted him, I was listening to the 97.1 Costa and Jansen show from Youtube. At 1:10, Costa said our defense was being called the Legion of Whom, and that he loved the nickname. I nearly fell out of my chair. I called him on speakerphone and played the clip, and he was so excited. After that show clip, if you now Google Legion of Whom, it’s popping up all over sites like reddit, youtube, and other social media pages. My son opened an instagram clip about the Lions defense last night and the top comment was “The Legion of Whom”.
You guys have no idea how cool of a moment this is for him, and how cool it is for me to be able to share this with him. Thank you to all of you, for helping make this happen and giving me a memory with my son that I will never forget. This site truly is filled with the best of people, and our shared passion for the Lions made this moment happen on this board. The crazy part is, most people will have no idea where this came from, but that will always be something that happened on The Den, and we are a part of it.

Stoney (Mike Stone) said that some unidentified texter (I believe) called the defense the Legion of Whom on the postgame show on 97.1 last night. A few callers chimed in that they liked the name and then Jennifer Hammond came on and get and Stoney kept repeating Legion of Whom.
That’s awesome, thanks for sharing that. Now we know that texter reads the Den.
I’ve actually met Stoney and Wojo in person during their 24 hour listener event a long time ago when they were on WDFN. I still lived in Michigan, so this was around 2003 or so. Those guys were great together and I like that they still do the occasional drop tourneys and bring back the old days.
That is cool and they do get things from here, I remember when Jeff Garcia was here with mooch, he threw the ball deep and it looked like a punt, the guy was open by the time the ball came down he was double covered. I complained how weak his arm was and that he threw a moon ball, after that it was all over about Garcia and his moon balls. I thought it was cool,
Thanks guys! I saw Valenti and Rico had a segment titled “Who am I, Legion of Whom edition”. I sent that over to my son. Earlier today, someone donated 50 bucks in the Grossi and Perna Wednesday show referencing Legion of Whom as well. It’s crazy and fun seeing it pop up in different places.
