The loss to Washington still stings

I refuse to ever watch that game again. You guys are some sick ■■■■■■■!

You should ban yourself 3 days for this post. I try to erase it from my memory

I have often considered banning myself and not sure what would actually happened. My guess is it wouldn’t let me. The alternative is that the universe turns inside out and existence itself is erased.

I put zero blame on Goff for the 9ers game. He played well.

The Washington loss sucked but I think we get blown out by Philly if we somehow won.

Last year just wasn’t our year

For all the conversation around MCDC, there’s a fair bit of what he’s about that Dan Quinn also is. Until we reassert ourselves, that loss last year was a bit too much like a been-there-done-that coach getting one over on an up-and-comer getting a little too much national spotlight.

In a vacuum perhaps, looking at the specific team situation for that specific game I don’t see how you reach this conclusion.

Agree. The offense needed to help the D out with POSSESSION! The Commanders had NO answer for Gibbs. Just keep pounding the rock. Jerk.

I was just about to make this exact same post. No way the Lions are beating Philly with that Defensive Personnel at the end of last season.

The SF loss will never go away. The only positive was that SF did not win it all so we will not hear about that comeback and SF winning it all narrative for the next 50 years. If SF had won it all they would talk about that game for decades.

I really like where the Lions sit right now. The defense feels like it has finally leveled up. And yes they were ranked top half last season. But I never got the feeling they dominated anyone at times. I think that changes this season. And coupled with this offense I can see the Lions in and winning the SB.

It’s an overreaction, I’m sure. Still, I want to see Dan distinguish himself as a success, not fall into a group of Rivera/Quinn player’s coach / gamblers who never really figured out how to cross the finish the line. The loss to someone who’s similar in ways is something I want to see reconciled. It’s going to sting until he hands Quinn well-wishes for their (DC’s) early off-season.

The Niners loss stung much more. No way were the Lions winning the Superbowl with the defense that decimated. The Commanders simply did what the Eagles would have done anyway.

absolutely agree. That game still gives me sorrow.
We had it. 24 -7. kick a field goal on the first drive
of the 3rd quarter San Fran has no momentum and Lions win!
they would of beat the Chiefs in the Super bowl.

Now we know how the 98 Vikings and 2006 chargers fans feel. I’d include 91 but we had no shot against that Washington team. That was probably Gibbs best team.

Eternal problem for entire league.

No answer for Gibby. No answer for foxy.

That was Reynolds and Dan Campbell cost us that game!

Sorry but, the San Fran collapse was even worse. I think we definitely would have won the Superbowl that year. Not sure if we would have beat Philly last year.

Correct me if I’m wrong but Wash scored 21 points off TO’s? 14 points from Goff’s TO’s. I do agreee Ben called too many trick plays, but they usually worked and they were playing KETCHUP!

I completely agree.
If you take out a few plays, Goff was AMAZING

Problem is, the plays that were bad…were turnovers.

We lost because of turnovers

Unfortunately, that’s the truth. 3 INT’s including a pick-6 and a lost fumble by Goff. Jamo throws an INT. Jamo should never be throwing the ball period 21 points scored. Can’t win like that in the playoffs.

To be fair Ben and even DC have always rolled like that. When it works they’re brilliant when it doesn’t they’re terrible.

To be fair, to be fair, their defense was done. So there’s blame in that too, and that also made it sting less because I didn’t expect them to make it far. Even Monty’s injury.

Its nice when you can win 15 games in the reg season even with injuries, but the playoffs are different. I’d be lying if I didn’t think the season was over when Hutch went out.
