The most Jets thing ever

Just heard this on the Ringer Podcast. Apparently the Jets have hired Mike Tannenbaum as a consultant to pick their next GM.

So the Jets are hiring a GM that they fired recently to help them choose their next GM.

Sometimes truth really is better than fiction.

Lmao it would be like hiring Matt Millen to help Sheila look for a new Lions GM :joy:

And he was one of the worst GMs I’ve ever seen too. Johnsons must just love the guy.

How did woody make his money? Not trying to oversimplify it but this surely doesn’t seem like a smart business move.

Hiring someone you fired, because you felt they were not good at the job, to consult on a replacement for that job… is ummm… interesting

I thought they hired the 33rd team to consult on this search.

i think they are getting this quote wrong

Mike Tannenbaum owns the 33rd Team consulting group.

like most rich people, he was born into it.

He is a great-grandson of Robert Wood Johnson I, and an heir to the Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical fortune.

Inherited it. Member of the Johnson and Johnson family.

They did. According to Sheil on the Ringer Podcast Mike Tennanbaum is Head of the 33rd team and he insinuated that Mike will be involved in the search. It’s on the most recent episode. :man_shrugging:

He’ll recommend himself.

Reminds me of a Dick Vitale interview I saw quite a while ago where he was trying to take at least a little credit for the Pistons success of the 80s. He said when he got fired he told Bill Davison that he needed to hire a basketball guy as a GM. Well, duh.

Remember when the Lions turned to the league to help with their GM search and they came back to suggest Baseball Bat Bob? Yikes.

Slave labor woodpeckers would be my guess.

Woody is the one at J&J that had the idea of putting asbestos in the baby powder.

To replace the lead flakes, I’m sure.

Now, if only the Bears could hire Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy to lead the Bears search, we’d be golden. If they hired 33rd, that would be alright too. Tannenbaum was awful as a GM and is just as bad at his expert analysis takes. Check this bit of wisdom out. Bart’s response after Mike’s genius assessment was epic.
