The Rams won their division and have made the playoffs 2 straight years

I remember being told that they would stink forever after trading all those picks for a Super Bowl and they’ve won their division for the 1st time since 2021.

I like the approach we take here in Detroit but a good coach and a good GM will never stink long term.

There’s many ways to build a team. We avoided everyone of them for decades.

You can have scrubs, you can have a ton of injuries, you can have questionable coaching at times. If you have Stafford, he has the ability to get you there.

Or at least, that’s what he started doing once he left Detroit.

Drafting 6 WRs in a row round 1 isn’t a good way to do it???

Needed 7 and would have been ok

McVay is a terrific coach which puts the floor pretty high.

You’re not allowed to say anything positive about the Rams, Stafford, or McVey on this forum.

The Rams have done a remarkable job given the injuries along the OL and the loss of Aaron Donald. Tip of the hat to them.

What is kind of crazy about the NFL is that maybe half or more of the Orgs really do it right and clearly have everyone aligned from the top down.

Then you have the other half that appear to be run by absolute idiots.

Now what I find crazy about the second group is that you have the other group that is literally showing you how to do it. It is like Burger King. They just said hey lets do exactly what McDonalds is doing. We will make a few modifications but in general lets follow their lead and also we will just build our places next to them since they already did the demographic research.

And I also realize the answer or issue is about 90% ego. And 10% just idiots. Because broke humans, who do not know how to make money do not get to purchase NFL franchises. These people typically have found great business success in other areas.

But it is kind of crazy.

Or……some would say that maybe some here should break suction a little bit on Stafford and McVay. As usual there is very little middle ground on this forum. For years you were either a hating troll or a slappy. The reason why the media is still so hesitant to call Goff a top tier QB and a “civilian” is because too many in the media worship at the feet of McVay. When he decided that Goff was to blame for the teams woes, Goff never had a chance to be great in the eyes of many a media member.

Personally, I appreciate what Stafford did here and the hard work he put in….but….he’s gone now. I don’t dislike him, but I’m not rooting for him either. The moment for me was when Stafford admitted that after losing to the Lions, he wasn’t rooting for the them to win a Super Bowl for the fans—or any other team.

Apparently the affection between the fans and Stafford is a one way street.

I like your thinking  :joy:

That’s funny because the Rams have been winning despite Stafford. But I guess the sparkle from some Lions fans never fades.

Meh. Donald retired. All teams lose guys to retirement and free agency. They knew about his retirement before the draft. Yes, they’ve had injuries, but no more than some other teams and nothing compare to Detroit or Minnesota. They won a mediocre division and played a strength of schedule equal to Detroit.

Sorry, I just don’t see the great job that McVay has done. Maybe it’s because I think he’s an enormous tool. But that’s just me. :man_shrugging:

They draft well. Verse and Fiske are great on the Dline and getting Puka in the late rounds…

Their GM is on point

Maybe you’re saying this, but I think they’re both great QBs. Goff had his doubters, and unless you’re a troll, he’s silenced you. McVay had his doubters, particularly here, but he’s proven—unless you’re a troll—that’s he’s a great coach. Same for Stafford.

Once again, both teams won the trade.

Once again, we’re probably inextricably linked to the Rams (Brad, “The Trade”, etc), at least with this iteration of the Lions.

They’re in an average division. 3rd place in our division would be winning that division.

Stafford is still good, though he seems to be slowing down.

MCDC is better than McVay. Though McVay is a good Coach.

Their window is closing. The Lions will be relevant for a long time

There big free agent addition got injured then benched… Jonah Jackson. And still won the division. Although winning the division with 9 wins, I’m jealous. The Lions would have won that division a month ago. We beat them all.

The 49ers were supposed to be the class of that division but had a massive decline this year. You never know in the NFL. I never believed Purdy was an elite QB and this year just confirms that he needs a lot around him to hang with the big boys.

The Lions are elite. Any team that they beat by a point and then need OT to beat them is a damn good football team.

Well in fairness he hasn’t had a lot of his weapons and his Oline has been banged up. I think we have seen most, if not all ‘elite’ QBs struggle under those conditions
