First world cup game I’ve watched so far this tourney…this is fun. And is it typical whiney ‘Merikan of me to note that it seems like the refs are kind of bad and have missed some calls/fouls against bosnia hurtsmybonebenia?

It’s the most aggravating part of the game imo. It usually comes down to who’s the best at selling fouls to the ref? Frankly 80+% of it doesn’t look like a foul to me, though I know by the letter of the law it might be. South American teams take it to extremes, the ‘gamesmanship’ aspect is intrinsic to the way they play.
So it’s legal to grab a guy’s jersey and pull as he’s handling the ball?
Now I dont like soccer…what the ■■■■ was he supposed to do?! That was ■■■■■■■ incidental. These guys are ret@rds.

Really makes me appreciate real American sports, even with all their own problems. That was one of the worst calls I’ve seen in replay ever.
Yeah they’ve GOT to create a rule for unintentional fouls rather than looking at it in slow motion - making it look worse than it is - then ruling on it like it’s black or white. I think we can still hold out in this game, but man, Belgium without Balogun is a tall ask.

and that just ended my interest.
What a joke of a sport.
He is out for the rest of this game (almost half of it)….
and all of the next game if they win….
for incidentally stepping on a guy’s heel in a sport based on continuous movement.

Balogun’s suspension for the next game will get overturned.
I really hope so, and it should, but they are loathe to do that even for unjust decisions due to ‘precedent’
