It’s really hard to overstate the importance of Bill Walsh to the sport.
Yeah more than half the league has ties to him. Pretty wild.
It’d be cool to see a family tree working up from each Head Coach.
Like, I mentioned this before, but the Saleh → Kocurek → Washburn connection.
Stefanski → Jim Schwartz → Washburn.
We can do the same thing for Monte Kiffin and Bum Phillips.
Pacells and Belichick.
Like, the chart is cool, but I’ve frequently wished someone much more committed and intelligent than myself would do that for each team’s defensive scheme.
that’s actually kind of sad too. maybe that’s what the league needs is an infusion from someone outside that massive family tree.
I’m available for interviews after 3:30 in the afternoons.
With as much as each team owner has on the line, it amazes me how often head coaches are chosen based exclusively on working with another coach.
…or Monte Clark
well that branch died off really quick.
Pruned
Isn’t that the Mariucci branch also?
So Paul brown is the GodFather……
He was the original innovator for sure, started two teams, one of which is named after him while the other has/had their stadium named after him. Outside of maybe George Halas I doubt anyone has had a bigger influence on the league as we know it today.
I can’t find G̶a̶r̶t̶h̶ B̶r̶o̶o̶k̶s̶, I mean Marty Mornhinweg anywhere on this list.
The bar is high!
Andy Reid also has alot of influence.
Surprised to not find Vince Lombardi.
Damn it @stephenboyd57 i can’t unsee that now……
Uncanny resemblance!

Damn it @stephenboyd57 i can’t unsee that now……
And the thunder rolls!! Garth couldn’t have done any worse than Marty!
And how about the Vikes head coach, he’s the lead singer for Three Doors Down.
I’d say Walsh and Shanahan are the two biggest influences on that list. The rest are pretty loose connections.
