Small (6’2, 234 at the Senior Bowl) and old (turns 25 before the draft).
Honestly when watching him I was impressed with his ability to get after the QB (not in the run game though), but nowadays I go out of my way to avoid guys like this because our FO just doesn’t use them, and I don’t want to go draft-crushing on any of them only to be disappointed.
He’s too small to be anything but a pass rush specialist.
Some team will probably try converting him to a LBer
He has good irony rankings based on his size and name.
I’m assuming AQM is a lot bigger. Cause what you guys are describing sounds exactly like a perfect replacement for AQM.
have to side with Air, dude knows what he’s talking about.
Damn it. Got scooped.
Pretty much just described James Houston coming out of of Jackson State
AQM is mid 250’s.
There’s a difference between 235 and 250 at 235 most lack the strength to be an every down player at DE. It’s hard to be an anchor at the NFL level when your light. Most guys this size are pure speed rushers or are an hybrid DE/OLB type and that’s exactly what Romello is.
The real question is does he have the frame to add weight?…. More importantly muscle and strength and still be effective?
He’s already almost 25 and been in quite a few excellent college S&C programs (Auburn, USC, Georgia Tech, Texas Tech). He should have added the weight already.
Exactly….. which makes it highly unlikely he can. And even if he could…. It would take a couple seasons to add strength properly and by that time he’s 27.
Which is why it’s highly unlike the kid is anything more than a pass rush specialist at this point.
Which means the Lions will look past him.
