But can we first, just for a minute, appreciate Greene’s 2024 season? It might’ve been one of the quietest and unheralded All-Star campaigns ever.

After spending the winter of 2023 recovering from Tommy John surgery on his non-throwing (right) arm, Greene posted a 5.4 WAR, the highest by a Tigers position player since Ian Kinsler (5.6) in 2016.

Greene played in 137 games and logged 584 plate appearances, both career highs. His 24 homers and 74 RBIs led the team. His strikeout, chase and whiff rates dropped while his walk rate increased to 11%. His ground-ball rate decreased from 48.9% to 43.6% while his barrel rate of 13.4% ranked in the top-10 percentile in the game.

He had 133 plate appearances with runners in scoring position and he slashed .294/.353/.521 with four doubles, four triples, five homers, 50 RBIs and an .874 OPS.

He led all left fielders with 14 defensive runs saved and earned his first Fielding Bible Award. In fact, earlier this week MLB Network named Greene the fifth-best left fielder right now.

It was, for Greene, a blossoming. Just don’t call it a breakout year.

“In my head, I would say there isn’t any breakout year just because you can always get better,” he said. “You can always learn from the mistakes you make. You can improve every single day. They talk about breakout years and things like that, but I feel like there is always room to get better.”

Seems like a great Friday to take off of work.

Didn’t realize the full schedule was out. My only real chance to see the Tigers play is when they come to play the Mariners for that 1 series all season. Looks like they are early in the chute this year. Was hoping for a bit later in the season when things warm up, but it is what it is. May try to go to that April 2nd game.

So as we know pitchers get injured at the highest rate in mlb history in recent years. Pitchers have always reported to spring training early to build up arm strength… But maybe that is part of the problem. Feb 12th is like 1.5 months before the season starts. That’s a lot of extra pitches thrown. Do they really need 1.5 months to be ready for opening day? Just a thought. The current injury situation is not sustainable.

The whole build up arm strength slowly to prevent injuries narrative sure isn’t working.

All I see from that is we’re 11 days from actual spring training pitching and our number two starter is Reese Olson and are starting third baseman is who the f knows

Cmon Harris.

Apparently the Jays, who are throwing bags of money at every one have a 6 year offer out Bregman, which I think is crazy. But

hhhmmmm, I’m signing a consulting gig with a mfr to bring them national. A side positive to this is I will travel to certain cities when the Tigers are in town.

I’ve been to 70% of the MLB stadiums target for this year with or without the Tigers:
Astros
Rangers
Padres
Giants

Petco is my favorite park still standing out of
CoPa, Trop, Kaufman, Wrigley, WhiteSox garbage field, Fenway, RogersCentre, Busch and all the dead ones (Comiskey, Municipal, County) except Tiger Stadium.

I really need to get to more ballfields, thats not a great list.
