The dates on some of these series comp to last year are very similar in timeline. Tues and Wednesday at 9:40pm. Thursday at 4:10pm
I’m planning to go to the Thursday game. Hopefully I don’t get to see a Famber meltdown live.
Jealous, love that stadium
Oh, and happy Skubal day everyone. He’s supposed to be on the mound for LA today against the Cubs i think.
The Tigers will:
- duplicate 2024 and get the division
- do well enough to earn a WC
- do well, but miss the WC
- play not so well, out of the playoffs
- duplicate 2025 and choke the rest of the season
Man, that’s a good question @JerseyJungle. We’re basically running a 3 man rotation right now and trying to buy time for Jobe and Flaherty. Hopefully Jobe is up when the team returns home to then face Cleveland. Flaherty hasn’t even starting throwing yet (right?). Could be the end of August before we see him back in the lineup. We’re going to be relying way too much on a bullpen that has severely disappointed already this season.
So being pretty darn disappointed in losing Skubs and Mize and weighing that against the outburst of runs they just had against the A’s I have conflicting thoughts on where they go from here. I have some serious ying vs yang feelings about this team right now.
Obviously the bats aren’t going to keep pace with what they just showed in “Sacramento”. But maybe the pitching won’t be as bad as my mind is telling me right now.
I may just need some time to get over the disappointment but right now I’d say “play not so well, out of the playoffs.
I think they sneak into the playoffs and get pounded without a legit 1 or 2 starter and an awful pen early in the playoffs
But the offense is going to be fun to watch the next 50 games
I think it’s going to be a least entertaining
I agree with this view
If they make the playoffs then that’s a major win for the team. They shouldn’t have any expectations if they get to that point, but a good amount of this team has some playoff experience now, so they might not do as bad as you’d expect. To win a wild card series you only have to win two games.
Of course we become a lot less dangerous without Skubal, as that’s basically an auto-win in Game 1, but Skubal was also 1-3 in the ALDS the last two years…and wasn’t the winning pitcher in that one win in Cleveland.
This team as it was did not have the bullpen to win a World Series. I would have been more upset with this team living in denial and then not having our current #2, #5, and #6 prospects now because we tried to make a run this year.
I think 90% of the Tigers talkers on this board agree with you and have made that pretty clear.
I happen to disagree with the approach Harris made. I would rather fix that weakness and make the run, or fix that weakness, let Skubs go, but at least keep Mize.
But hey. Harris and what seems like most of the fans like the way things went down. Kudos.
Any thing can happen. But tigers still have the same BP that made them sellers. And now their ace and mize is gone
And that’s the bullpen that we’re going to be leaning on to get us through August.
Curious to see how Hinch is going to manage things if our starters can’t make it past the 5th inning and we still need enough arms to run bullpen days until Jobe and Flaherty make it back.
18 blow loses past the 17th inning. If it was half of that like good portion of teams where would the tigers. Plus Skubal and mize would still be here . I dont trust the BP at all

Ugh, blacked out of game today on mlb.tv. Hopefully the backup plan is up and running. Haven’t had to visit a pirate in a while.
I agree with this. I have no problem letting Skubs go, but I wanted Harris to fix the BP, keep Mize and make a run at the playoffs.
And that could be why they were sellers.
