Tigers sign Gleyber Torres to play 2B (Keith to 1B)

Meh, you just write it off to get him to sign in Detroit.
Granted certain fans will play GM 4yrs from now and tell us why it was all wrong.
Not necessarily pointing at you in this case, that is your football posting style, not sure about MLB.
Just poking fun, if you can’t laugh at yourself who can you laugh at.

$24m a year on Castillo does not excite me as much as $25m on Bregman.

Tork Trade Targets?

Marlins- Braxton Garrett?

Blue Jays- Macko or Kendry Rojas?

Tork+Maeda for Castillo? And Bregman? Sign me up.

The Tigers have strong interest in third baseman Alex Bregman.

In fact, the Tigers appear to be all-in on Bregman. Both sides are engaged in ongoing discussions with mutual interest, but there has been a gap in value as Bregman’s market narrows

Here you go @stephenboyd57

The Tigers have interest in right fielder Anthony Santander, but the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Angels are the frontrunners for his services.

Santander, who turned 30 in mid-October, hit .235 with 44 home runs, 58 walks and 129 strikeouts across 155 games for the Baltimore Orioles in the 2024 season. A switch-hitter, Santander hit .239 with an .822 OPS against right-handers and .225 with a .793 OPS against left-handers. He made the All-Star Game in 2024 for the first time in his eight-year MLB career.

Jake makes a valid point here that I hadn’t considered.

3D chess. Maybe Harris is secretly meeting with Holmes these days. Lol.

Santander has had a very up and down career. The 44 homers last year was impressive. But for his career he’s been more of a 20-25 homer type guy. Career .776 OPS is decent but I see him as a risky signing.

I like Torres at 1/15 at age 28 with a QO comp if he leaves or inside track on a new deal more than 4/100 on Santander.

Bregmans landing spots have dwindled. I dont mind playing harder on the negotiating, but I also dont want him cutting the line either.

Reel him in Harris!

Tigers will have $40m in expiring deals after 25 with Maeda and the two 1 yr deals this year. Bregmans back half of a 6 year will slot to Baez’s salary when he drops off.

Big extensions for Skub and Greene in that window, but thats about it.

Pretty great cap shape, really.

Are we still paying Miggy?

Nope

If the tigers do sign Bregman. I think.they trade for a young SP.

Lineup would be

  1. Meadows CF
  2. Greene lf
  3. Bregman 3rd
  4. Carpenter dh
  5. Torres 2b
  6. Colt 1b
  7. Vierling rf
  8. Sweeney/Baez ss
  9. Rogers c

Lineup looks much better

So right now starting pitchers are:
Skubal
Olson
Manning/Mize/Hurter
Cobb
Jobe

Other options only looking at who is currently on the roster:
Hurter, Mize, Manning, Madden, Montero, Maeda,

I do think there will be another addition either fa or trade.

Bench based on current roster:
Perez
Dingler
Ibanez
McKinstry

others
Malloy
Tork

I dont like the sp at all. Lots of question marks?

A Mize/ Tork package would be a real slap…

Nats re-signed Trevir Williams and Josh Bell, plus traded for Nate Lough, so they are out as trade partners.

Marlins man…Edward Cabrera?

There are alot of rumors out there about trading Tork for a starting pitcher.

It makes sense.

You aren’t wrong on a lot of question marks.
However, I really like the potential of this staff. The young guys mentioned all got lots of MLB time and did pretty well for their first go round.
I would still like to add another SP to the roster, longer Flaherty goes without signing more hopeful I am.

There is that, but still cant feel good about it.
