I agree you gotta trade Skubal… but Valdez has at least been pitching better. Last 5 starts has 3.21 era in June. He’s far from great but he is the least of the problems roster wise
Tigers outscore the Astro’s 20-17 and somehow manage to lose three of four.
Tigers start out the home stand 4-0 and somehow finish .500
Tigers have lost 15 games when leading in the 7th inning.
Tigers really really suck.
Running out of options to watch sports, Tigers? World Cup? Ugh.
Can’t wait for the NBA summer league.
I’d keep McDonigal, Dingler, Keith, Carp, and Lee.
I’d keep most of our pitchers too.
Green is the opposite of clutch.
It makes me sick to watch Tork.
Interesting take on Greene, he has been the most consistent hitter, or top two, this season and several clutch hits.
You know its bad when tiger fans are complaining about the announcers
Greene’s hitting with RISP has been down this year.
Remember though, 36 HR and 110 RBI wasnt enough. With a .260 batting average, which was 15 points above league average, so if you remember the 80s, thar’s like being a .280 hitter.
How many 36 HR .280 seasons did Kirk Gibson have? None.
Now, hitting .290, also not enough. League batting average is .239, so it’s like hitting .312. Tracking 20 HR and 180 Ks.
How many .310 20 HR seasons did Alan Trammell have?
1, his MVP year ( ■■■■ George Bell)
Oh, he’s 25.
TWENTY FIVE.
Riley Greene, assuming reasonable health, has a very real chance at 2500 career hits. Maybe more.
I’m trying to remember last week/month the 80’s are way in the rear view mirror.
I’d trust your take over mine. I’ve just seen him recently choke in clutch situations, unlike McD and Dingler. Haven’t been watching this year as religiously as the past two years. For one there was Pistons b-ball, and that wins every time! If you think Greene is clutch, OK, than lets keep him too. Just don’t try to say Tork is clutch, lol.
if you smooth the data by decade, we’ve had a 22 point drop since the 1990’s:
The decade averages reveal a steep, steady decline over the last 20 years:
- 1980s Average: ~.260
- 1990s Average: ~.266
- 2000s Average: ~.264
- 2010s Average: ~.253
- 2020s Average (through 2026): ~.244 [1]
surprising that the 80’s weren’t as high as the 90’s.
time to lower the mound? move home plate back?
Pitch Lab/Driveline stuff has put pitchers way ahead. Plus velo explosion plus expanded bullpen usage etc.
AL league average is .239 half way through 2026.
