Tigers vs Blue Jays: May 15-17

None of them can bunt. The Tigers are the worst bunting team I’ve ever seen. Not even Short who can’t hit a lick can bunt,

Shhhhh

You are ruining my narrative.

Does analytics support bunting with a runner on second and no outs?

Mize pitched his butt off. Oh well. Its a beautiful day enjoy it guys

Lol. Do you really expect me to know that?

Do the analytics support not bunting? I get what you are saying though. If they don’t support bunting that makes sense. I guess in my mind it was just automatic that the analytics would support it.

No place for bunting, stolen bases or anything aggressive with statistical modeling, predictive analytics…. Just let AI manage the team.

Yeah it does seem that way. I just couldn’t figure out why. FRM’s explanation makes sense though. It just took me 3 times reading it out loud to myself before I understood where he was going with it.

Im a little bit slow sometimes.

It’s wild this offense is so bad, as there are 10 players in the AL +.300 BA’s and the Tiger have three of them…but then you see the 10th inning start and it’s Short on 2nd with Jake Rogers leading off, and then it starts to make sense.

I can’t remember the exact stats but last season I think I looked up the analytics on bunting and I think I remember it stating that early in the game it doesn’t work out analytically to give up that free out by bunting, but that later in the game when a critical run is needed that it does make sense analytically to try bunt that runner over to 3rd.

So outside our teams apparent inability to lay down a bunt, in the 10th inning, down a run, man on 2nd with no outs, the wise thing is to try to bunt that runner over to 3rd.

I think a large part of it is because the other guys (like Rogers, Short, etc.) have been SO bad around the top of our lineup.

Kevin, Dingler, Colt, and Greene have all been great. Everyone else has been pretty awful. Gleyber and Kerry are both hurt, and Tork has been incredibly unlucky…and then has also just not been that good at times.

We need to get our guys healthy.

For example, five players that batted for us today have a batting average below .200, and Tork who wasn’t counted only sits at .201.

Zach Short leads the pack with a .000 batting average.

I mean, I LITERALLY CAN do that. Where’s my contract!!! I’m a young developing player!

(Those players are Lee, McKinstry, Perez, Short, and Rogers)

Bring Max up, send down Lee

I agree with that. It’s worth a shot.

Talk about a snooze fest series. I watched a couple innings last night, could barely stay awake. Today I watched none of the game, been helping the neighbour work on his yard, cut down some trees which had grown wild, cause he’s old but his grandkid has a cannon for an arm.

Saw the score the Jays won but who cares. After the world series loss by 3 inches last year in game 7. My care level is at an all time low.

Wake me up in late August

Last year as of today Tigers won their 30th game

Ooof, this offense isnt simply an uninjured Glabor Torres and Carp bat away from not being possum tits with those stats…:grimacing:

Don’t forget about the mighty Parker Meadows. Getting his great bat back could raise the entire teams average to .201

Oh man that had to hurt. Why does it always have to happen to the squishy ones?
