My question was about the Brewers, why bring AJ into it? But I take it that they perscribe to the ā€œif it aint broke, dont try to fix itā€ strategy…bold!

Greene and Tork with back to back hits.

Speaking of the way AJ does things, I remember discussing with I believe you frm about whether or not AJ would ever use a true closer, should he have one. Of course there’s a lot of season left, but he’s used Kenley as a closer only.

I wonder if AJ would stop doing this matchup stuff if he just had a better lineup? I don’t recall him doing too much of it when he was in Houston, but I also didn’t pay much attention.

For example, he’s letting Kevin hit against both lefties and righties, and pretty much has been the whole time as far as I can tell pre-Parker Meadows injury.

Idk, if he’s doing it because he doesnt have a better lineup, doesnt that defeat the purpose of sitting one of the best bats in his lineup in Keith?

Well Colt Keith had a .403 OPS against lefties last season, although he did have a .783 OPS in 2024 against lefties with almost twice the amount of PAs, so who knows.

Guess I’ll stop mentioning it…no point in being a broken record about watching a broken record I reckon.

So is this broke or working?

I guess…but looks like a pretty small sample size to me. I’m just a little more Sparky old school…play your best guys until they show they cant play a certain way :man_shrugging:

Problem is Tigers didn’t face a LHP until last week for the first time as far as a starter goes. 0-3 for the season.

As I said earlier in this thread or the last series thread, it’s the one thing that drives me a little nuts about Hinch. Is how he handles lineups and doesn’t allow hitters prove they can do things or improve at it. But, he has been successful as a mgr.

As I said before, it’s the one thing that drives me a little nuts about Hinch.

Yet, he has been successful in Houston and in Detroit with this style of lineup manipulation based on opponent and opponents bullpen usage coming into a series and in the series.

I didnt really pay much attention to what he did in Houston…did manage the same/to this extreme?

I think this Mcgonigle kid might be ok.

To be honest I don’t know, probably shouldn’t have included the manipulation part of that regarding Houston success.

Rookie of the year or he’s a bust.

Ha, true

If Vierling is hitting clean up, you don’t have a real clean up hitter.

All I can say is anything is better than the Tork windmill. Last hit notwithstanding.

Don’t we get some draft pick or something if he wins rookie of the year?
