The talk about.Mize at the.time was about how far advanced he was, multiple pitches ( 4 really) and how they expected him to get to the majors quickly.
He hasnt shown a ton of development and he has been set back…a lot.
Being brutal about long term development of the staff, if he can be a #4, and cheap…and have some late 20s hopeful development? Im ok w that.
But, at this point he needs to show he is a better value than Manning, because IMO its one of the two for 1 spot w Jobe ( who looked overpowering at 3/4 speed against high A Dayton yesterday, Skubal and Olson and eother Flaherty or another vet.
At least until thr next wave if guys is challenging them in 1.5 years

This was also thr talk about Tork, btw. Advanced baseball acumen, fast riser etc.
Its hard to have 2 1 OA in 3 years and get an innings eater and a low average meh fielding power 1b bat as your hopeful outcomes.

Skubal goes from a 7pitch 2nd to more due to Gio error then a hit … he gets out of trouble.
