Scouting report for Friday’s Detroit Tigers-Boston Red Sox game

  • Casey Mize, Tigers: This is Mize’s fourth start of the season. Two of the first three were impressive, including last time out, when he held the Miami Marlins to one run on six hits over 5.2 innings. He struck out five and walked only one. His only clunker this season was two starts against the Twins in Minneapolis, where it was frigid and he was struggling to get a good feel for his bread-and-butter strikeout pitch, the splitter.

  • Ranger Suarez, Red Sox: It was a rude start to his Boston career for Suarez, who signed a six-year, $140-million contract this offseason. He didn’t make it out of the fifth inning in either of his first two starts with the Red Sox. But he was back on point last time out, throwing six shutout innings against the St. Louis Cardinals, allowing just three hits and two walks while striking out six.

I have my first game tonight so I will probably miss most of this. Wish me luck.

Good luck, and as the McGonigle of our board, may you play like him as well.

Center field and I bat leadoff. I have no power at all but I can run a little bit and I have a very strong arm.

His average at Toledo was .196?

Leadoff in center with wheels and a cannon? That’s not ‘no power,’ that’s just saving it for throwing guys out and scoring from first.

I remember Javy avoiding a similar play at 2nd but he slid to the left of the base and avoided the tag. I would think it would be instinctual with most MLB players. I guess not.

Really enjoying being able to watch the game tonight, on Apple TV…

Good luck my man.

Yep, and this is why the NFL is being put under scrutiny right now as well.

If I subscribe to MLB.tv in order to watch the team I root for because I am out of the market area I should be able to watch all the games.

And if I subscribe to NFL Sunday Ticket I should be able to watch all the Lions games.

The MLB isn’t as bad as the NFL with this stuff, but it’s still annoying.

Thank you. We won 4-3

I lead off the game with a walk. Stole 2nd and 3rd base then scored on a sac fly.

Lined out to first in my 2nd Ab

Line out to 3rd in my 3rd AB

Tripled in my 4th AB and scored the winning run on a sac fly.

I also threw a runner out at 2nd who over ran the base.

I wonder if we were ever in on Suarez considering he and Valdez were the top FA pitchers this past offseason.

I’ll have to call my doctor in four hours if the swelling doesn’t go down. You’re my new hero. :oncoming_fist:
