even if they go 9-0, I honestly don’t think skubal by himself pushes us over the top. I mean that playoff game last year kind of set my mind as to who he is.
I’d trade him, get some modest to good prospects. Better than letting him just walk at the end of the year because he ain’t signing here.

In the playoffs you shrink the starting rotation thus making the pen better. Jobe likely available to help the pen too.
Skubal, Mize, Melton and Framber as playoff starters. Montero and Jobe in pen with maybe Jack F. (what to do about Jack?).
You gotta get to the playoffs though. If this club goes 7-2 over the next 9…what does that say?

It’s not just that they would keep Skub, it’s that they would add probably a piece for the pen in the late innings maybe a better Lefty than Sommers and for an outfield bat I would think.
Skub Framber Mize with Melton and Flaherty with Montero as 5 and dive then three from thee piggybacking. JV doesnt make the playoff roster. Jobe is for if plans go wrong with Skub or Framber. Vest making the playoff roster is a really interesting question cuz he seems to get pumped up for pressure situations, but I don’t think you can carry him and Finnegan and Jansen and another Bullpen guy you add Plus seven starting guys and a couple of our HHH middles. Let alone Anderson.

So the game tonight is on local tv, which is nice. What isn’t nice is that for some reason you can hear the Spanish language guys in the background. Very distracting.
