Tigers vs Yankees; April 7-9

Series: Three games at Comerica Park

First pitch: Monday – 3:10; Tuesday-Wednesday –1:10 p.m.

TV/radio: Monday-Wednesday: FanDuel Sports/97.1

Probables: Monday – LHP Carlos Rodon (1-1, 3.97) vs. RHP Casey Mize (1-0, 0.00); Tuesday – RHP Carlos Carrasco (1-0, 7.36) vs. LHP Tarik Skubal (0-2, 5.91); Wednesday – LHP Max Fried (1-0, 2.61) vs. RHP Jack Flaherty (1-0, 2.38).

:arrow_forward: Rodon, Yankees: The Tigers would like a repeat of last Aug. 17 at Comerica, when they worked 90 pitches and chased Rodon in the fourth inning. The Diamondbacks took advantage of four walks to beat him in his last start. So far, his fastball velocity is down to 93.8 from 95.4 last season and he’s scrapped his cutter. But the slider is as evil as ever (hitters are 1-for-13 with 8 strikeouts).

:arrow_forward: Mize, Tigers: He’s coming off what might have been his most impressive big-league outing, stuffing the Mariners on one hit over 5.2 innings last week. He expertly mixed two different sliders and a nasty splitter off 94-mph four-seam and two-seam fastballs. He got five whiffs on seven swings at the splitter.

I know we’ve had a pretty good start to the season with hitting the ball, but that group of names in that order still makes me nervous.

Right now the Detroit weather is making me nervous, curious if we actually get today’s game in.

Javier Baez is slashing .333/.333/.444 with a .777 OPS and 3RBIs over his first 18 at bats in 2025.

Early season slash lines… Springer is batting .380 right now. Both guys will be lucky to bat their weight by the end of the season

Hitting your weight in Toronto is a very impressive thing in some cases.

I knew that was coming… Lol

Also ■■■■ the Yankees. Hope the Tigers destroy them. Maybe bean Judge a few times for good measure.

Its f ing cold today. I wouldn’t be surprise to see 3 hits today from the tigers.

Hopefully the temps and Casey Mize can keep the torpedo bats in check today.

Dang, hell of a play by Ibanez there, didn’t get the runner but still nice job to keep him to a single.
Next batter flies out to center.

I just want the Tigers to take one game this series, two would awesome. also shows we can beat the big boys

I understand it’s literally snowing and it’s freezing ass cold…but Casey Mize has definitely taken a major step up.

Weather makes what he is doing to this point more impressive, gripping the baseball in these temperatures can be an issue. So far, it ain’t.

But agree with you on how massive it would be if he has really harnessed his offspeed stuff. Huge for this team.
