If the pitching matchups are accurate then I am definitely going to Friday’s game as it will be Skubal day!!!
Boyd back on the Tigers bandwagon for a few games I suspect..

Scouting report
Mize, Tigers: He’s looking to build off a most encouraging start and win against the Mets last time out. Encouraging because the life was back on both his four-seam fastball and sinker. Both hit 98 mph and sat just under 96 mph (95.7). He was able to maintain that velocity through his five innings and 69 pitches. Mize has already has exceeded his innings total from last year. The 125.2 innings is the most he’s thrown since 2021, before elbow and back surgeries. It remains to be seen how judicious the Tigers are with his workload the rest of this month ahead of the postseason, but taking him out after five innings and 69 pitches might’ve been an indication.
Warren, Yankees: This will be his 30th start, and he’s already thrown a career-high 141 innings. He’s not thrown more than 98 pitches in a start since the beginning of August. Still, there’s been no evidence of wear and tear with his four-seam fastball. It’s been a tick firmer (94 mph) and, with an elite spin rate (2,570 rpm), it’s holding hitters to a .199 average. He mixes sinkers and sweepers to right-handed hitters and lefties, who have an .805 OPS against him, will see sweepers, changeups and curves.
I guess, if they are worried about Cleveland sweeping the 6 games remaining against them or something. Otherwise, I would prefer that that Cleveland puts KC out to pasture and the Tigers will then be able to take matters into their own hands.
So you are saying that the key to the Tigers making the playoffs is that KC and Cleveland lose to everybody that isn’t the Tigers? And since KC has less games against the Tigers left than Cleveland does, we should hope the Guardians lose to them?
My level of trust in relation to starting pitchers is irrelevant. I trust the Tigers to win games and win the Central because that is literally what they have done the whole year.
Kc has a harder schedule. Tigers aren’t playing great since the all star break, and play Cleveland 6 times. I prefer kc to win or split and puts less pressure on a younger team with one sp who is great and the others who are up and down.
Fair enough. The good news is that all the Tigers have to do is go 10-8 the rest of the way with only 1 of those wins coming against Cleveland and it doesn’t matter what those two teams do.
