But what just went on affects us playing or not playing the tougher opponent and risk even getting to the game against them. Seeding is important.

I thought Colin Cowherd made a good point today. He said if you remove Saban, Smart, Sark etc from their teams for 6 games, do they go undefeated for those 6 games including against the #2 team in the country? That should matter, but it won’t. It is what it is so I don’t spend a lot of time worrying about it. The Big Ten is not the darlings of college football.

Im fine keeping Georgia #1 if they didnt already move OSU to that spot because PSU was some world beater for a week. After they’ve shown last season doesn’t “matter” U of M should be #1 tomorrow.

It could be. I think any of the top 8 teams in the country could win the playoffs. Any given saturday this year. There is no clear cut best team.

I hope Alabama does best Georgia and keeping Georgia out. Want to see a new winner this year.

I don’t think it even matters.

Even if we jumped Georgia this week, if they beat Alabama next week they would just re-jump us.

If they lose to Alabama next week, we will be the #1 seed regardless.

You are right about that more than likely. But from a balls and strikes perspective IMHO UM should be #1 right now based on how they are “supposed” to rank the teams. Then if GA just squeeks by AL and we roll Iowa, there “should” be a good chance we remain at 1. Ultimately if want a Championship, we’ve got to beat GA head to head and nothing can stop that from happening except Iowa then our next opponent. I just believe we should be 1 right now after beating #2 while they beat GA Tech by 8. Beating 2 top 10 teams should be more impressive than beating 4 top 25 teams. Especially when one of those was #2 and played at the end of the season.

Alabama beating Georgia is the committee’s worst nightmare. You would have to put Alabama in over Georgia, but what about Texas? Who will probably win their conference too, and beat alabama head to head. Could we see no SEC teams in the playoffs?

Should be interesting to see how it unfolds.
