The contemporary world is so damn weird

I really enjoy Tom Grossi’s sense of humor.

It’s refreshing to see a Packers fan sit down at a table with a bunch of Lions fans, and just enjoy each others company. I’m sure there was some good trash talking, but in celebration and fun.

Grossi is an algorithm destroyer in today’s world, and I’m rooting for the guy.

And it’s all for St. Jude’s hospital! Keep trucking Tom!

Can’t complain too much…the guy has visited three places and already raised almost $100k for St Jude’s

FTP!!!

I’m not complaining per se. Tom does seem like a genuinely good guy and certainly the charitable aspect is great.

That being said, I still have trouble wrapping my brain around the whole social media celeb/influencer thing. But I’m 42 so perhaps that’s just me being ageist.

I’m glad Tom had a good time. His shows are always fun to watch.
I watch most of them. Always entertaining.

We’re the same age, basically. I just look at it kind of like a low-level standup comedian who uses a different platform than CDs and live venues. Now they have YouTube and tiktok instead.

I have very little prescience on social media which likely adds to the mysteriousness.

To be fair low level standup comedian don’t have that sort of meet and greet following. Though I suppose that’s the power of social media at work.

I swear I’m not a curmudgeon. I’m just an old man yearning for a simpler time that is now extinct. Wait … come to think of it I am a curmudgeon.

Same, the Packers fan is kinda funny, but he’s milking this for all it’s worth.

Maybe I’m from the old school, but that same packers fan was making fun of the Lions for years until recently, so I continue to remember that and FTP’s keeps coming to my brain eveytime I see him.

I’m sure a low level comedian could have done it back in the day…the problem is getting it organized and getting the word out. THAT is really where the power of social media shines.

Just think if, say, The Jerky Boys were to hold a meet and greet back in the 90s. They’d have packed a bar or two I’m pretty sure. Now imagine they could reach all their fans at the push of a button.

Also, a lot of these influencers ARE stand up comedians these days. Just look at Uncle Roger. The guy isn’t exactly Carlin but he made a very popular online personality/character and leveraged it to get people to come to his stand-up shows.

I’m sad to say (or perhaps not) that I have no idea who that is.

But I am happy for Tom. He gets to do what he loves for a very nice living. He seems like a nice guy and I think he has some talent. So more power to him. I just had no clue his following in the “real world” was so large.

Its nice and everything, but I prefer the snotty Grossi.

I’m assuming you know who Larry the Cable Guy is. Same basic thing, only Asian.

He’s still plenty snotty when he does the Lions / Packers game videos. Always classic stuff. Really so are any of his inter-division game videos. Packers win, plenty of snotty. Packers lose, epic meltdowns.

This is just some other stuff he’s expounded on with his channel. And it’s for St. Jude’s so I can’t hate on it.

He’s turned being a fan into his full time job. Isn’t America a wonderful place !!

I was born and live on the East Side of Detroit. When I was 4, my family moved to the West Side of Detroit. I was a kid in the 80s. It feels good to see my city represented in a positive light. But something was off…Not sure what it was…But something didn’t feel authentically Detroit.

But hey, all publicity is good publicity.

Old School NWA fan eh?

FTP coming straight from the underground!
