Tony Romo on indefinite leave after DUI

OHHH JIMMMM!!!

Stop CBS, my preseason boner for football can only get so erect.

The problem with the preseason boner is the starters rarely play and then you gotta watch Hendon Hooker and Tim Boyle miss the side of a barn for 3 hours.

I’m not so interested in the actual preseason games, just the fact that we’ve kicked off the camps and have actual real content. Knowing I don’t have to deal with Romo for the start of the season is a massive plus.

I am curious if Romo tries to pull the “I have an illness” card at some point. I am also curious if CBS finally tries to court Gregg Olsen’s agent. Olsen getting passed over for Brady was criminal.

FAFO Tony, stupid is as stupid does, no sympathy from my end.

The arrest footage actually made me like the guy more. Don’t like him on broadcasts but seems like he’d be a fun guy to grab some beers with … and then take an Uber.

I like the guy, I don’t like what his announcing has become. His early annonucing days were great, because he was still in player mode and knew what teams tendencies and knew the intricacies of what was happening on the field, because he had studied it. As he spent more time away from the game, his announcing has just changed to him making loud grunting sounds, and stating gems like “This is for the SUPER BOWL!” in the first quarter.

I’ve heard a lot of people in the background have commented that Romo doesn’t spend any time preparing during the week, basically goes off the cuff during games, and totally phones it in. Nance seems to be losing patience with him as well. I think CBS has been quietly looking for a way to push Romo out, and now Romo himself gave them a big opportunity.

In terms of his character, I will also not forget the day that after a loss, while driving home from the stadium, he stopped to help a family on the side of the road who had a flat tire. That’s a good human deed.

Tony should have called Joe Cullen for a ride.

I will say that it’s kind of interesting to see how certain famous people interact with law enforcement, especially when stoned.

Also, I’m sure glad cops didn’t have bodycams when I was young and dumb and spending quality time with them.

Even if you aren’t a fan of Olsen’s, do you think Brady is better?

Also side topic, who is your fav football color guy?

I’m thinking let’s just give altmyer or whoever all the run this preseason.

I dont see any use in having anybody else trot out

I think Brady is terrific myself.

Yes.

Vilma.

I can’t say I have a favorite… but Brady and Warner probably annoy me less than others. JJ Watt could wnd being decent with aome more experience.

The whole thing is sad to me.

You and I agree on most things…but your critique of announcers we have never agreed on. But I don’t have much criticism for most announcers or even media personalities…but to be fair thats probably because I work in the TV business

You’re Big Willie!

No…I’m not Big Willie. I know he works in this business too…but I believe he is a Tape Operator. I am a Maintenance Engineer for GameCreek Video who does the Amazon Prime show on Thursday Nights. Big Willie I believe worked with Buck and Aikman for FOX but they are on MNF now for ESPN, don’t know if he followed them or not but I am not him. Plus he’s black, I am German/Irish

I don’t like to judge people at their worst moments, but Romo’s behavior didn’t make me like him any more than I did, which was neutral. Lied about going to his grandparents. Seemed a bit non-chalant about it all. And certainly did not seem to care that he was a public safety risk. Again, one incident that I’m aware of. But yeah, if you want to drink while golfing, make sure you’ve got a ride home. You’re not a kid anymore.

That’s exactly something that Big Willie would say.

Well anybody that works in TV would probably say what it is that I am saying…regardless of who they work for or what position they work in
