What if I gave the 90’s group Stafford at quarterback and todays group gets Goff? Saddling either group of skill players with Mitchell just seems wrong.

Stafford and Herman would have been deadly. Goff and Herman would not be is my first reaction to your question.

Both Stafford and yes Mitchell too just didn’t give a shit. Threw up jump balls all the time. Hence all the interceptions. Goff is the opposite, he trusts guys that run great routes and get open consistently. So very hard to analyse skill guys talent without knowing who is throwing the ball.

And for the record I ain’t comparing Stafford to Mitchell but they did tend to like the bigger jump ball, less separation type WR’s is my point. Stafford has clearly improved a ton since those Megatron early days and will be making the hall of fame

If you gave Goff a receiver like CJ, would he be throwing jump balls into quadruple coverage? …we’ll never know. Goff hasn’t had a CJ or Herman Moore type of receiver…but maybe that’s because Brad knows Goff tendencies and what type of WR to get him???

Lots of unknowns to this queation / equation imo.

I agree for the most part, but when Srafford trust HIS guy, he will throw the 50/50 anytime in a game.
CJ, Golladay, Cooper Kupp, and Nucua are living proof of this. I 100 percent believe if Stafford were our QB for 2026 he and TesLaa would develope the same 50/50 throws. Goff might do the same, but I believe he has the tendancy to take the safer throws.

Cupp and Nacua are not jumpball guys but Nacua does have a good catch radius. Agreed that Stafford will put it where he feels his guys can get it. He wouldn’t have thrown a lot of those jumpballs into double/triple coverage to anyone not named CJ though.
