I believe it’s very clear, Juice is a better and more reliable center. Trade Mays for a 5th and extend Juice with the $$ we are paying Cade.
Did you see the lanes he was opening up for Gibbs AND Vaki?
I doubt we would get much for Mays right now. First the broken wrist, now a sprained ankle. He’s managed to play about 5 quarters this year. Fairly expensive contract too.
I’m not writing the guy off but injuries have derailed his season.
Scruggs will likely be starting the next few weeks and who knows how long a sprained ankle will take to heal. Could be a month or so depending on severity for Mays.
No way I’m trading Mays or Juice, center depth is critical for this team as we saw yesterday.
Absolutely f_cking not. The only thing I’m sure of, is someone else’s going to get injured. Could be an OLineman. Keep him.
We were running two TE’s in the backfield in front of Gibbs/Vaki. The change was a welcome sight for the Lions.
Might as well keep him for depth for the time being.
But after yesterday, replacing Juice with Mays shouldnt be on the table again for the remainder of the season. Pending injury or major decline in Scruggs play.
I get the reasoning.
Rather have the depth this year than a 5th next April. Talk to me in February though.
What? Dude is injured and hasn’t played at all really. What are we getting in this trade? A supplemental draft pick ![]()
.@Vikings @Lions OC; Drew Petzing, had some real innovation to help run for 230 yards v the NFL #1 ranked defense. New formations and great usage of 3 TE's. #OnePride #BaldysBreakdowns https://t.co/ph3h19b6DF

Not a chance.
Why? Let’s keep something we haven’t had: depth.
We lose 6 guys yesterday to injury and this mook wants to trade some of our best depth for a 5th rounder…..you cannot make this sh*t up… ![]()
We get a “get out of jail 2 years early” bonus and have the money it will take to extend Juice. I’d take a 7th at this time. Juice should be our long term starting center. If he hits FA, we lose.
That’s how it goes in “The Den”.
I thought you knew.
God I miss @DeadStroke .
This is when he would step in …respectful and classy like and basically say…..WTF over, here’s the CAP reasons …..
Brad doesn’t play chess like he’s scared, nor should you. Always be planning for today and tomorrow. Center is the least injured position on the line. Plus we have a good up and comer on our PS.
Most Offensive line injuries:
Breakdown of Offensive Line Injury Trends
-
Tackles (Left and Right): Play on the edge of the formation where they are frequently left on an “island” to block elite, high-speed edge rushers and defensive ends. Biomechanical and tracking data indicate that the injury rate for offensive tackles is roughly double that of centers and guards.
-
Guards (Left and Right): Experience high frequencies of lower-body and joint wear (such as knees and ankles) due to tight-space crashing and pulling blocks, frequently ranking right behind or near tackles in total missed games.
-
Centers: Generally record the lowest individual injury frequency and missed-game totals among the five starting offensive line positions, as they operate in more protected interior spaces and frequently receive help from adjacent linemen.
Trading Cade now almost eliminates any future cap hit. The bulk of his deal moving forward is a $6M guarantee for 2027 plus his signing bonus spread over 5 years. That leaves his reaming signing bonus of $5.2M hitting our dead cap for 2027. Not paying the $6M guarantee is a wash.
Between preseason and these first seven games our starting center has been injured TWICE.
Your timing is priceless.
So a couple of things:
- Mays is the starter till Dan says otherwise.
- The entire reason this thread was created is why what your asking won’t happen. Mays got hurt and we had QUALITY depth to step in and save the day. We don’t win this game last year because of what Rags did.
- One more time…they are not trading ANY QUALITY OL.
- Some are gonna hate it but apparently Dan and Hank still love Mays. Nothing has changed that perspective to this point.
Hence, TRADE his injured ass. Juice has now played how many games plus the entire preseason with how many injuries?
Edit: I am guilty of wanting to hold onto Marcus Davenport myself.
