D MO is far from done as a rb1..obviously Det doesn’t need him in that role. We would be crazy to ship him with out leverage in a huge positive shift for the team overall without an asset in return. Other moves seemingly to part with 1 offensive pawn to aquire a 2 headed monster in Crosby and just shut teams down weekly make alot more sense!
You are correct, but Montgomery strikes me as having more tread on the tire because he was used judiciously in a shared backfield. Age is always a factor that cannot be dismissed. But limited usage may add a year (maybe even two) depending on how he is used.
Was DMo really ever a RB1?
He’s a great complimentary RB but idk if DMo is your RB1 that you’re in a great situation and it would probably change rather quickly.
It is kind of funny that we didn’t want to pay Swift so he goes to the Bears and the Bears didn’t want to pay DMo so we did.
Agreed. DMo is better than Scruggs but hopefully Brad can make good use of that 4th and 7th round picks and the extra cap space created by getting DMo off our books.
Dmo is very close to 2000 Touch/targets and 30yo, almost every RB in history not named Henery starts falling off at that point,
Dmo Success rate, YPC, Yrds after contract, yards after catch, catch% were all on the decline, all while getting very similar snap% over the last 3 seasons.
And hes the 12th highest paid rb.
sorry not sorry. Lions got a 4th, A center and saved $3+m. Thats a win win win win across the board.
Draft a RB in the mid rounds or get a cheap FA.
Remember Jamal? He fell off hard after the lions let him go,
We’re not getting Crosby. Can we put this notion behind us please?
Monty wanted out and out of respect we granted it. Now we have to go find a quality RB2. Likely a young player who will be happy in his role. I expect us to look towards the draft. Monty was a 3rd rounder and we will likely use the 4th we got in his trade to land his replacement.
