Another series win. Keep doing that for a while. 7 to 10 win streaks are nice but unrealistic. Either tie or win series and we’ll see how the team stands in July.

Our hitting has done a complete 180. I’m still insecure about our bullpen though. Especially when Jansen comes back.
Add a legit power hitter to lengthen the lineup, and a real power arm for high leverage situations, and we will take the AL this year.

Who is new Tigers outfielder James Outman?
Outman played in 49 games for the Twins this season and batted just .156/.229/.250 with no home runs and three RBIs. He was acquired in a trade with the Dodgers last July.
Outman’s best season in the major leagues was in 2023, when he had 23 home runs, 70 RBIs, a .790 OPS, 16 stolen bases and 81 walks in 151 games for the Dodgers. Outman, who bats left-handed, was a 3.4 WAR player in 2023, finishing third in the National League rookie-of-the-year voting (Arizona’s Corbin Carroll won, unanimously), but he’s been a part-time player and a negative-WAR player in the three seasons since.
He does have some added value on defense, though. Outman, 29, a seventh-round pick out of Cal State-Sacramento by the Dodgers in 2018, can play all three outfield positions. He has mostly played center this season.
The Tigers have played much of the season without a true center fielder, with Baez and Parker Meadows injured. Matt Vierling has played most of the games there. Wenceel Perez has played some. Zach McKinstry has played sparingly, though he did make a nice defensive play in center field in Thursday’s game.
Whose place will James Outman take on Tigers roster?
There was no immediate word from the Tigers about any new injury on the active roster. They do have several players who continue to struggle at the plate, including Jahmai Jones, with an OPS under .500, and McKinstry, with an OPS under .600. Perez and Vierling both have an OPS just over .600. Perez and McKinstry both did hit homers Thursday, albeit off a position player. Perez is a switch-hitter, McKinstry bats lefty like Outman (McKinstry also plays all over the diamond), and Jones and Vierling bat right-handed.
