I have watched a lot of football, this guy dominated his Center position like no one I have seen at Iowa. Different player but was actually better than Tritian Wirfs. If this guy makes it to pick #32, you take him and move him to Guard (no questions). People are definitely sleeping on him. Thought he was too small and had too short of arms. Tape does not lie in this instance.
Ordinarily, I’d agree except the Lions have an All Pro level C, a young Pro Bowl LG, a veteran at RG who allowed zero sacks in 2021, a backup C who played well, and a plethora of needs on a defense that was one of the worst in the NFL.
If they did that I’d prefer they move Ragnow to Guard. I don’t think they will. I think they’re confident with health this unit can become one of the league’s
most dominant.
With the injuries we had last year I have no issues with taking this guy.
There is absolutely no excuse for using 4 1st round picks on offensive lineman. We have 3 already… all locked up long term. oh and we have a 3rd round guard who is good too. This would be a giant waste of resources. Hes a very good player, but you have to have good players at multiple positions in order to actually win games…
Difference is that this guy is a game changer, better than everyone on the line except for Ragnow. Why not have the BEST oline in the NFL. Would open up the pass and run on offense.
Decker missed half the season and Ragnow missed almost the whole season. This team is built around the OL and the run game. Now hopefully we are looking at safety’s and lbers but I just want talent and for the Lions to follow their board. And maybe this guy drops to the 3rd….who knows.
He’s a game changer in college. But at only 290 I think he’d struggle at guard in the wrong system. Brown proved he can play at a high level last year if needed. If we didn’t have ragnow I’d say absolutely. Unfortunately we have too many other glaring roster holes to fill.
When we moved Ragnow to guard before it was a mistake, horrible. Tyler is going to make some team happy, I don’t think we need any more happiness at center.
Up to 302 pounds (as of today)
You can only tie up so many resources into one position group. We literally have 4 Pro Bowl caliber players and Vatai. Plus solid backups in Brown and somewhat Nelson. Hell even Tommy Kraemar was serviceable as a UDFA. Anybody we add on the O-line should be after the 3rd round.
If we didn’t have ragnow I’d be on board. We have much bigger holes to fill on the roster. Big v is a solid guard and Jackson is a pro bowler. Our offensive line doesn’t need help right now.
He is very good but we need to make the DL as good as the OL an that doesn’t happen by adding more to OL
An we resigned a solid backup at C an don’t forget the UDFA who stepped in as rookie an player well Kraemer
It would be a classic case of drafting for BPA or by need. If Linderbaum is there at 32 or 34, I can guarantee we will regret not taking him. Iowa Hawkeyes coaches have coached some good ones over the years but he might be one of the best (says a lot). He brings a nasty edge to his game too.
When we took Pettigrew instead of Alex Mack, I was pissed even though we had Dom. Mack made the pro bowl for the 7th time this year, at 36 years old. Ragnow is not Dom.
You might regret it for whatever reason, but I can guarantee you that there will be no ‘we’ whatsoever
Only if we draft Ekwonu at 2. Let’s give Goff eight seconds to throw every snap
Thats a fantastic idea! We’ll make Sewell our other tight end and we’ll be unstoppable.
