A foundational assumption of my dream draft is that Tyree Wilson is taken before #6. Ben Solak crushed that assumption for me when he offhandedly said that Wilson has a Lisfranc injury, not just a foot injury as I heard. Doesn’t that take at least a year to fully heal and even then, it’s iffy?
Crap we’re for sure drafting him now.
@18?
There are various degrees of Lis Franc injuries.
Significant injuries requiring hardware may require 10-11 months before a full return…. putting Wilson on track for a return right at the start of season if that is his timeframe.
The Lis Franc injury involves a dislocation of the 2nd metatarsal bone due to a ligament tear… whuch was named after a french surgeon who noticed the injury occured to soldiers whi had injuries while their foot was in a stirrup riding horses.
Today… the injury occurs mostly in head on car accidents for most people, and in athletes.
The only specifics I have seen is that Wilson a recent procedure to remove the hardware that was inserted on 11/21/23, and the foot guru Dr. Anderson wrote a letter claiming his recovery to be a success.
The time frame aligns with what my wife experienced… when she had a Lis Franc injury that required 3 screws to hold 2 different bones in place. She not only tore the ligaments that hold the metatarsal, but also had 3 fractures across the 2nd and 3rd metatarsal bones. She had the hardare in for about 12 weeks before it was removed.
The timeline for recovery seems to be better than it used to be 20 years ago. Duce Staley was actually the first NFL player to make a successful comeback from a Lis Franc.
A recent pedicure?
Hell of a way to get hurt!
Thanks, Phunnypharm. My dream is still intact then if Dr. Anderson is the same one that is trusted with ACL surgeries.
Jamed Andrews has been the ACL guru for years…
Anderson is the foot/ankle expert…
and Dr. El Attrache out of LA is considered a top guy for several ortho things… particularly Achilles injuries of late (Kove Bryant, Cam Akers)… and also did Tom Brady’s knee among other high profile players.
The list shortens…
Injured while kicking you in the ass?
LOL… not that time….
she stepped on 3rd base in a softball game…
and “pop”…
but she is so tough and stubborn that she went to work the next day… until I told her to go get it x-rayed…
then ignored the “non-weight bearing” order from surgeon and walked in the boot at work… and started golfing at about 8 weeks instead of staying off it for the 12 weeks suggested.
When she went back… surgeon was amazed at how well it healed and how far along her recovery was at that time…
PS…. she actually golfed better in the walking boot….
because it forced her to stay down theu contact and not pull her head…
Wilson at 18 and shelf him for '23 if you have to?
I’m even more on the trade up for Will Anderson train than I was before.
Sorry just seeing this but everything @Phunnypharm said is spot on.
If I recall correctly, Kevin Jones had this injury? When he came back he wasn’t the same, but also that was in 2004 or something.

Wilson at 18 and shelf him for '23 if you have to?
Wilson should be ready to go early…
probably even opening day.
His hardware is out… no setbacks…
Anderson cleared him in a letter they made public….
and he has over 4 months to rehab.
I don’t think he slides due to the injury with that letter being sent from the foot guru.

Thanks, Phunnypharm. My dream is still intact then if Dr. Anderson is the same one that is trusted with ACL surgeries.
crazy…. but true story……
I was at work recently… and a co-worker mentioned ahe had been having pain in her foot for quite a while.
I asked where…… and she indicated it was along the outside of the foot… close to the ankle.
I mentioned ahe may want to get an appointment and have it x-rayed…. because I have read so many things about Jones fractures and the symptoms sounded like a possibility.
She saw a podiatrist…. was confirmed to have a non-unioned Jones fracture…. and now has a plate and screws in her foot.
I considered becoming an orthopod…. may have been a good ide!
I would say, if it’s confirmed Wilson has a lisfranc, he’s gonna drop. Depending how it is but this guy just went through about a million medical exams and has been seen by every doctor by now… so much depends on when it was found, when/if he had surgery, if he has it how long he’ll be out… so many variables and that’s a tough injury to recover from.
This draft is gonna be goofy, strap your helmets on!
This is awesome info, thank you!
Isn’t that what basically ended Kevin Jones career witn us after a promising start?
Pretty sure it did but there are different degrees like @Phunnypharm said, and also the medical treatment is a lot different now than it was back then…
Can’t believe Kevin Jones was 20 years ago… damn I’m getting old.
