UDFA Signings - Keep it here

Does our egyptian born de count towards the 90?

Yes, he went to college in the US.

Comp I saw was Latavious Murray. A power back like the other UFDA RB signed

This guy has longer arms than any of our drafted players. I thought we only liked prospects with short arms as weaknesses listed in their bios

OTOH:

NEFJ: What made you decide to commit to UMass? Why was it the right school for you?

JKJ: ā€œWhen I was in the portal I had multiple D1 offers both FCS and FBS. On my visit, UMass did something unique, something different. They didn’t put up my highlights and say this is what we see. They put up the film of my highlights effort plays, the plays me backside putting a corner in the dirt on a run play and tellin me. ā€œWe see your value, we want the world to see it tooā€. That moment I knew.ā€

I had Fautanu ranked 120th overall (one spot ahead of Jack Sawyer lol, which @Jman can verify), so he’s one of my favorite guys. At 6’1, 300 he’s center only, but he’s also got 35 inch arms and 11 inch hands! Played 3300 college snaps, there’s nothing he hasn’t seen. Not a very good athlete but has the strength of a man 50 pounds heavier. Pacific Islanders, you know…

The problem is we’re a bad match for him. I really liked Kingsley last year and would have had him ranked over Fautanu, and now even he might fall behind Ratledge or Frazier in the C pecking order if we decide to cross-train them (which we’ve already said they’ll be doing). So I see almost no way onto the roster for him, he’s pretty much destined to be PS only.

Gavin Holmes signed a 3 year deal.

I’m not really a draft nerd, but, Fontanau is the real deal. He won’t last 5 minutes on the waiver wire.

Egyptian raised. He was born in the U.S. and lived here until he was 6. He came back when he was 16.

Now signed for 3 years.

All UDFA deals are 3 years at league minimum

I seriously believe Prieskorn will displace Brock Wright as TE2. He is a classic in-line TE with excellent blocking skills and can get up field. More quick than fast.

He wont replace Brock. They will carry 3 TE.
1 Laporta, 2 Brock, 3 TBD.

Zylstra - more of a WR Hybrid
Prieskorn - more of a blocker
Yeboah - Blocker

Just depends on what the lions need from their TE3.

Looks like they are finding Monty insurance.

Actually he has consistently scored higher in blocking than Wright from PFF.

Welcome to the Den, Rolkm.

Preiskorn might well perform well enough to be TE3 or even TE2, but the Lions save nothing on the salary cap by letting Brock go this year. He’s ā€œfreeā€ in 2025. It’s possible the Lions could release him in 2026 if he doesn’t keep producing.

Keep bringing it, Rolkm. Tell us what you’re thinking.

And tell me what I’m thinking, @Rolkm. I tend to forget.
