who was a 70 sack and 2 super bowl winning DE. This not a bad thing. Hutch is fine.

From PFF

Detroit Lions

"Highest-graded player: Edge Aidan Hutchinson (90.0)

Only Maxx Crosby and Micah Parsons have more pressures than Hutchinson (46), and he boasts a top-10 pass-rush grade (89.3)."

Sacks are overrated.
Hes over 11% on pressures and win rate. Thats great for the NFL.

Is he Watt? Or Bosa? No. Hes not in the S Tier elite all pro category.
But hes a great DE.

The issue is aside from McNeil, everyone else is average or below average Pass rusher.

Houston is a great pass rusher as well but not that great at coverage or run stopping. And hes hurt.

I never said he was trash or bad. Never said Chris long was trash or bad. They are both good just not elite.

I hope I am wrong with Hutch.

The guy is top 3 in the NFL in QB pressures. This is a bad take by OP

Hes doing great so far. If the Lions get another decent DE, Hutch will flourish.

We should have traded Him for Chase Young.

@JG2ASB

I know this guy…I’ve seen these threads before

Chris Long was a fine player who had a really good career. I’m not sure I’d call this a “hot take”. I’ve actually thought about this comparison myself. I will say I think Hutchinson is a better pure pass rusher. Having seen both play extensively. It is a fair question though to wonder if Hutch came into the league close to his ceiling. Time will tell…

We need James Houston. He’s the fire starter. He gets the early in the down pressure, creates the chaos that allows a player with Hutch’s motor to flourish. That’s not to say that Hutch isn’t a great Edge in his own right. He most certainly is. He’s just currently without his Robin.

I think you are using both?!:flushed::stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Well use your voodoo magic and get this man healed already.

I am assuming your basing your assessment on Hutch having low sack numbers which is laughable. If you look up the stats you will see that Hutch is #3 in the NFL in QB pressures with 46. He is constantly in the backfield every game. I disagree with you 110% Hutch is absolutely the guy they thought they were drafting. Get a better DE opposite of him and he will be a 15+ sack a year guy.

To my mind pressure is a overrated stat. People are questioning the irvin pick up but had 20 some pressures last year

So, we start winning, getting national respect, nobody wants to play us and NOW is when people that know nothing want to criticize star players (Hutch, and Goff). This is a ridiculous take that needs to be retired. PFF consistently rates Hutch as one of the best at his position. Get him a stud DT or another quality edge and he is dominant. This take needs to be retired

I wish there was a down vote. Ridiculous.

Of all DL metrics, pressure is the most correlative number to future sacks. More than sacks even.
