Unfortunately Hutch is Chris Long 2.0

I had high hopes for Hutch coming into the year. Still do a like bit but this year has not been what I thought it would be. He has not taken a step forward. He might be what he might be. He might never ever be elite:

Good player no doubt. But I don’t see anything coming along other than that same motor. Which is amazing! Unfortunately he might not be switched up enough for enough speed around the edge. And not big (weight) enough to have all out power.

But this might be his ceiling. Has more ball skills then a lot of other DE.

He might be a Chris Long not a JJ watt

Hutch has been way better this year than his rookie season. Not even close. He does need some help though.

As far as defensive problems. We have 10 starters far worse than Hutch.

Well until he shows us he split double teams, and make plays on the QB it’s hard not to call him a Chris Long.

Bosa, TJ watt, Garrett beat double teams.

He is good but he not elite at this point and not sure he gets there.

26 games is a good sample sizes. 14 sacks that is not elite. I understand sacks are not everything it is just an easy measuring stick to use.

If he goes out and gets 3 sacks this weekend I’ll eat crow!

You must be going by sacks, because even though he is in a dry spell for sacks the dude is still getting pressure and causing havoc on most snaps, I believe he was top 3 I’m the league right with Crosby in pressures. Hutch is the best player on D. When he gets a little more help he be even better.

I know people love him because he is a home grown kid! I love him also.

But let’s be realistic about him a little.

He is not a top 10 edge player in the league at this point.

Funny how you ignored the 4 ints and several fumble recoveries.

He’s by far the best player on the Lions defense.

You might as well start a new thread bashing Sewell.

Anzalone is the best player on the field this year I have seen him make more impactful plays than Hutch.

I mentioned Hutch having better ball skills than most DE.

Well that’s totally inaccurate.

Some hot takes are better left inside our heads and never spoken out loud. This is a great example of one.

This is not true.

Is he better then:

TJ watt?
Nick Bosa
Myles Garrett
D. hunter
Micheal parsons
Crosby
Reddick
Burns
Josh Allen
Joey Bosa

Maybe he is 9-15

Sewell is a top 3 OT in the league I have zero questions about that.

Nick Bosa has not put up the big sack numbers this year. We’ll see if Chase Young helps him step it up.

Hutch got hurt against the panthers on the int return. He is still recovering.

Offense literally gameplan entirely around where he is. He gets double and tripled teamed and held every single snap. The defensive line is shit. The DE’s other then hutch suck. Pascal is still a ??? because of all the time he has missed due to injury. It’s Hutch, Mcniel and a bunch of try hards. Mcniel is the only interior pass rusher who consistently gets pressure on the qb. It’s hutch and nothing else. He is in the group of bosa, garrett and watt.

Well that is good.

I hope you’re right!

Unfortunately to me he is looking like a Chris long type player
